Didn't Bobby Petrino get all those wins in the C-USA? If I remember correctly, he was only in the Big East for 1 year. (Don't quote me on this, I'm not sure if I'm right or not.) His first two years following John L Smith who went to Michigan State where "the kids played their tales off but th...

I may be missing the point of the discussion, but I think BeeDee is talking about a coach comining into certain schools and competing for a National Title on a regular basis. For Ole Miss, Arkansas, State, Vandy, etc history shows it is just not going to happen. Chief you say everything is cyclic, ...

I don't disagree with any of what you say above. I don't even disagree with making what Arkansas may feel is a trade up in coaches. I just don't think you're going to get the results you think that you are out of Petrino. I don't think Johnny Vaught or Bear Bryant would be able to bring Arkansas, S...

That's just it. Arkansas has BEEN good. They've been about as good as one could reasonably expect Arkansas to be. This is nothing new. I don't think that Petrino makes a HUGE difference at Arkansas. He might come away with a better winning percentage in bowl games and maybe he actually WINS the SEC...

I can't see Coach Nutt giving up his pro-style scheme he knows inside and out for the current spread fad. Just like the wishbone, the spread will be figured out by defenses and it will be just another scheme that had success for a limited amount of years.

---------------------- Yeah he played qb (#14) under lou holtz at arkansas" i think" in the late 70's-early 80's(rarely played) before the transferred to oklahoma state.Putting nutt in as a qb coach is rather premature since he only uses qb's for handing off the football as it is 70% of t...

Nutt doesn't need an offensive coordinator. He was calling all the plays the past 2 years. His brother designed the "Wildhog" formation back in '98 but he just didn't have the personel to run that set. Exactly. He will be able to "open up his play book" here, don't be surprised ...

Re: What about Freeze coming on staff now that there is room

Nutt could use the help in recruiting and he obviously does not need an OC. Does Spurrier need an OC? We have a good offensive minded coach, so why fill waste a spot on the coaching staff when another position coach could be brought in. A good recruiter like freeze would fit in great with the alrea...

I'm glad Shibest is coming, his Special Teams were worth around 7 points per game at Upig.

Chris Vaughn is a really good recruiter and DB coach.
