Re: Not much talk about the NCAA investigation
The fact that Tunsil talks about needing money to pay his utilities demonstrates that Ole Miss is NOT paying players, IMHO

To Titles r US
Actually, the head to head when we were without Tunsil AND when Florida was playing an illegal quarterback. The fact that it still counts as a Florida win really chaps me!

Re: Seeing where the 4th down play was illegal
Answer: No. An incomplete backwards pass is not a fumble. See Rule 2, Section 11 Article 1 Fumble ARTICLE 1. To fumble the ball is to lose player possession by any act other than passing, kicking or successful handing (A.R. 2-19-2-I and A.R. 4-1-3-I). The status of the ball is a fumble. The rule doe...

Re: Seeing where the 4th down play was illegal
College Football Rules, rule 7, Section 2, Article 2 ARTICLE 2. a. When a backward pass or fumble is caught or recovered by any inbounds player, the ball continues in play The Rule then lists exceptions, including the inability on 4th down of anyone except the fumbling player to run with a fumble. I...

Re: Seeing where the 4th down play was illegal
Much as I want to believe the officials got it wrong, I don't see a rule stating that after a completed forward pass beyond the line of scrimmage, an incomplete backwards pass behind the line of scrimmage becomes a dead ball.

Re: Seeing where the 4th down play was illegal
How about Rule 7, Section 1, Article 7:: Planned Loose Ball ARTICLE 7. A Team A player may not advance a planned loose ball in the vicinity of the snapper. Obviously the rule is intended to deal with the "fake" fumble on the snap, picked up by another player. However, there can be no doubt...

Re: Seeing where the 4th down play was illegal
Hagar
Please cite the rule that says a backwards pass that falls past the original line of scrimmage is a fumble and thus (on 4th down) can only be advanced by the fumbling player. If the call is wrong it will drive me crazy!!

Re: Rebs - hogs 2:30 CBS game of the week.
Assume Ole Miss wins the last three, and then beats Florida for the SEC championship. The Rebs had lots of injuries during their loses. But (under the hypothetical), the healthy Rebs beat Alabama, Texas A & M, LSU, State, and the rematch against Florida. I can see that being enough to get us int...

Suspension of Florida QB Grier
Since Florida Quarterback Grier used a banned performance enhancing substance, why shouldn't Florida have to forfeit all the games in which he played. Those were the teams most directly affected.

Re: Baton Rouge horror stories: tell them here!
I was at the 1972 Ole Miss LSU game that LSU "won" 17-16, after the officials gave them an extra play at the end of the game. I was in the Ole Miss student section which was (of course) in the end zone. The LSU student section was directly above us, giving them the perfect chance to throw ...

I can stomach it. I'm not pulling for State. I pulling against South Carolina, and so I'm pulling for Ole Miss.

Re: One Final Push
If State sweeps, and we get rained out, we would wind up in second place in the West.
