Re: Official NCAA RPI's, March 9th
If OM gets to the semi-finals, it won't matter who they beat. A victory over either Vandy or Georgia at that point would mean a six-game winning streak and a berth in the championship. The RPI of the opponent will not matter. OM's will likely be in the '40's somewhere, well within the range the comm...

Re: Official NCAA RPI's, March 9th
Last year the committee denied Alabama a bid even though they finished at 12-4 in the league. Reason given was that their RPI was in the '90's. Would be laughable if State were given a bid, having finished at 8-8 with a #74 RPI. But we'll see.

Official NCAA RPI's, March 9th
Ole Miss moved up to #50 following the win over Auburn. State is now at 74, and Tennessee is at 77. No reason for State to get consideration over Ole Miss now, particularly if Ole Miss beats Tennessee.

Re: Confused
Ole Miss has an RPI of 54. Both State and Tennessee are in the '70's. If Ole Miss can beat UT tomorrow, they should be the first team in behind the SEC locks. State has lost 6 of their last 8 games. If Ole Miss beats UT, the Rebs will be on a five-game winning streak. Under those circumstances, the ...

Re: So how is everyone feeling about the team so far?
Lots of young talent, solid pitching, hungry team eager to get rid of last year's disastrous season results. Is Bianco loosening up and letting Godwin coach? I truly hope so. We cannot afford to have sloppy outings like the Friday game against Miami of Ohio. We simply gave that game away. Auburn and...

I'm waiting for Boyd's World and others to start posting RPI's. The only service doing it now is Warren Nolan, and he must be on crack. He has us with an RPI of 103 and State, which just lost to Memphis State, at 31. Boyd's is usually pretty close to the NCAA's.

Re: Bama Lost, MSU lost, Rebs Won
Those razor-thin, two-overtime losses to 'Bama and Auburn on the road may mean the difference between the NCAA and the NIT again.

Re: A VERY EARLY PRESEASON TOP 25...THOUGHTS?
Most years, the prognosticators just put up the final Top 25 poll for the next year's pre-season poll. I find very little original analysis of college football among the talking heads, pressbox scribes and bloggers who claim to be experts.

Re: Growing belief seven wins should be magic number for bow
Yes, it was 'Bama that got the Indy Bowl bid that year, even though we had beaten them and finished 7-4. They finished 6-5. Roy Kramer protected them, as he usually did. Because of that incident, the SEC changed the pecking order for bowls so that a team with a poorer record could not be invited to ...

Re: Growing belief seven wins should be magic number for bow
A team with a 6-6 record is mediocre at best. If it loses its bowl game, it has a losing record. The 7-win requirement is reasonable, and if some cheesy bowls get tossed in the trash can, so be it. Going to a bowl game used to mean something. Now it's part of the Marxist mentality of some people run...

I believe there is a course offering at MSU titled, "Showing Your A** 101." Think it was started when Jackie Sherrill was there.

Re: Deja Vu From 1959
Moral of the story: It's hard to beat the same team twice in the same season. If two teams meet twice for whatever reasons, best to win the last one.
P.S. If you can't win 'em both, that is.
