Re: NIT = Not Interested...

I certainly watched the game and enjoyed it very much. Actually, the NIT can be a bit of a stepping stone for a program. In 1957, Memphis State lost to Bradley by one point in the NIT championship game in New York. That gave them much needed TV exposure and began their rise to a nationally recognize...

Re: Another Mascot Vote??

Hello All: I have followed the mascot discussions in this thread since it began and would like to offer a few thoughts. When I was in school the, "mascot" was a male student dressed in a grey uniform stalking the sideline and, I believe, brandishing a saber. (My memory may be faulty about ...

Re: Is this a dead period or not?

Technicality question. If O had resigned before the contact with recruits took place, is he still restricted by the NCAA rules governing contact by the school? After they resigned, I assume they were no longer "associated" with UT unless there is a rule dealing with contact after resignati...

Sorry for the multiple post. My system seemed to be indicating it wasn't being accepted. Guess it was :P .

This is Geoff Calkins' article in today's Commercial Appeal about the sudden abandonment of UT by Kiffin and crew.

Re: Bama already crying about 2010??

Actually, at the PGA Tour level, there is a good deal of whining and crying by the players. I've been involved with the PGA event here in Memphis for 20+ years and we routinely hear the greens are too fast, the greens are too slow; the rough is too long, the rough is too short, etc. etc. You get the...

Restaurant suggestion in Dallas

Not everyone fortunate enough to be heading to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl will be familiar with the city, places to go, places to eat, etc. I've been there a number of times and found a very good Italian restaurant in Highland Park Village after the 2004 Cotton Bowl. Our hotel was near there. The na...

Blind Side

Just home from seeing The Blindside. Very good, stirring movie. It deviated a bit from the true early history as chronicled in the book, but most viewers would never notice. For the Rebel Faithful, however, I can't help wondering what it would have been like to see the real North Memphis streets fro...

My guess is that Mike is proud of Blindside (book and movie) since it portrays his very rough roots in that part of Memphis and demonstrates the things a person can accomplish given the opportunity.
