Ole Miss recruiting: Rebel targets showing out at The Opening, 5-star OT sets Oxford visit 247Sports named some superlatives after Wednesday's workouts and four-star wide receiver D.K. Metcalf was named one of the most impressive

Then u click on it and it takes u to this story on red cup rebellion.

It might be the off-season but crootin is just getting started with five-star linemen heading to the Magnolia State and Andy Kennedy checking in on a croot in Memphis.

Shea Patterson has been really busy out west competing at the Elite 11 Finals and The Opening, but he's not the only one that Rebel fans should be keeping up with. 247Sports named some superlatives after Wednesday's workouts and four-star wide receiver D.K. Metcalf was named one of the most impressive receivers.

Along with Metcalf, targets Little and Gary were both named top performers out of the OL/DL group after Thursday's session. Another name that Ole Miss fans have become familiar with is Mr. Nigel Knott. The Ninja from Germantown, Miss. was named as one of the eye-poppers after the four-star defensive back ran a blazing 4.3 40-yard dash. And speaking of speed, prepsters in Louisiana are sure to have nightmares of four-star running back Devin White this fall. The tank of a human from Springhill, La. ran a 4.49...at 5'11 and 258-pounds. It's seriously not even fair.

5-star OT will visit Ole Miss

Five-star offensive lineman Greg Little and four-star defensive back Jaylon Jones are high school teammates at Allen High School in Allen, Tex. But, not only do they attend high school together, they are going to be taking their college visits together as well. Greg Powers of Scout.com reports that the Ole Miss Rebels have struck up a legitimate relationship with the Allen duo and are more of a threat than people think. The Texas powerhouse has won back-to-back-to-back state and national titles.

Little, a 6'5, 305-pound Texas A&M commit, has been committed to Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies for over a year, but has recently been entertaining the thought of shopping around. Jones, a 5'11, 182-pound defensive back is still undecided, but has been very intrigued by secondary coach Jason Jones' recruitment and what the Rebels have to offer. Both are in Beaverton, Ore. this week competing in The Opening and are most definitely bonding with Patty Ice.

Northeast trio to head down South

The Rebels have been steadily casting their recruiting net all over the country and they have recently gotten some attention from some croots in the Northeast. This week at Nike's The Opening, four-star tight end Naseir Upshur spoke with Scout.com about his recruitment and who he will be visiting campuses with. In the interview, the Philadelphia, Penn. native stated that he will be doing a tour of the south, including Ole Miss, with five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary from Paramus, N.J. and four-star wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell from Egg Harbor, N.J.

Four-star forward likes the Rebs

Micah Thomas, a 6'7, 185-pound small forward from Memphis, Tenn. recently spoke with Rivals.com's Scott Phillips about his recruitment at the UA All-American Basketball Camp in Charlotte, N.C. and had a lot of good things to say about Andy Kennedy's program. Thomas stated that he took an unofficial visit to Oxford for the Alabama game last October and even rushed the field.

The talented wing currently has offers from Arkansas, Florida, Iowa State, Memphis and Tennessee and is looking forward to visiting other campuses to start to narrow down his search. But, despite playing his first three years of high school at Briarcrest Christian School in Eads, Tenn., Thomas has elected to transfer to Huntington Prep in West Virginia. Thomas was named Tennessee's Mr. Basketball in Division 2-AA last season after he averaged 14 points, four rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.5 assists while shooting 49 percent from the floor and 41 percent from 3-point range

Diamondbear commits make All-American team

Rebel commits Jason Barber and Andy Pagnozzi were both recently named MaxPreps 2015 All-Americans. Barber, a 6'0,190-pound right-handed pitcher from Oxofrd, Miss. was the only junior on the first team after being named to the ABCA All-Region 6 Team and the Jackson Clarion Ledger All-State Team. Barber was also named the Gatorade State Player of the Year and Mississippi Coaches Association Class 5A All-State Player of the Year. Barber gained notoriety earlier this year after going 12-0, not allowing a single earned run all season and leading Oxford to the state title.

Not to be outdone, Pagnozzi was named to the MaxPreps second team after the right-handed pitcher was named to the ABCA All-Region 6 Team and the NHSBCA All-Region 6 Team. The 6'1, 195-pound righty from Fayetteville, Ark. was also named Gatorade State Player of the Year in the Natural State and the Arkansas Preps Player of the Year. He finished his senior year with a 9-1 record, 0.95 ERA, 110 strikeouts, 12 walks in 74 innings pitched.

Aloha to Oxford

Rivals.com's Blair Angulo recently interviewed four-star offensive guard Michael Eletise and the giant Hawaiian has named a top five of Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Ole Miss and Washington. The 6'4, 313-pound lineman says that he really likes Hugh Freeze and the Rebels' style of play. Despite the distance between Honolulu, H.I. and Oxford, Miss., one has to think that special teams coordinator and safeties coach Corey Batoon's West Coast connections have been paying off. Batoon has already worked hard to secure a commitment from another Island native.
