Ole Miss vs. SC - Game 1

I missed the first inning, so I don't know. I do know that inning he had bases loaded with 2 outs and they poked a bleeder through the 6 hole, but how they got bases loaded, I can't say.

2nd inning he just could NOT seem to find an out.

This home plate ump has been horrible. Coach Bianco evidently said something in the dugout when SC got a 2 out hit in this, the 7th inning, and Coach was ejected from the game while still in the dugout. Probably commenting on his strike zone because the hitter should have been out before getting the hit. He sprinted out and got face to face with the ump having a heated discussion before finally leaving. Coach Rob goes out to relieve McKean.

2 out, runner on 3rd, top of 7th:

Kyle Barbeck comes in to relieve with 2 outs, runner at 1st. Ground out and SC fails to score.

Lead-off double for Henson! Rebels are trying to climb into this one again.
Miller walks with 1 out and Henson at 3rd and suddenly the tying run is on-deck for the Rebels
Henson scores on a wild pitch! Miller advances to 2nd. Rebels down by only 3 now!
Fly out but Miller advances to 3rd.
Fly out ends the inning.

SC gets a single then advances to 2nd on a wild pitch and that's Barbeck's night. Goforth comes in to relieve here in the 8th.

Blue's killin us. SC gets the run back they gave up in the 7th on a SF.

After that a 2 out triple due to an error by Henry. That's a 3 bag error as he had it bounce off the glove.

Henry redeemed himself on the next batter with a fly out and left the runner at 3rd. But still, SC gets the run back.

Snyder strikes out, but Henry swipes 2nd.
Smith walks
Henson strikes out.


LSU comes back on Bama and takes game 1 in Tuscaloosa. Dang it...this is NOT looking good...

Goforth gets 3 up, 3 down to keep from digging the hole any deeper.

Rebels MUST score 4 in the bottom of the 9th to keep the game alive.

Hashman files out

Miller beats out an infield single in a bang-bang play

Ferguson beats out an infield single as the 1st baseball dives to get the ball, but the pitcher couldn't cover the bag. Runners 1st and 2nd, 1 out. Tying run at on-deck.

Mort walks to load the bases and the tying run in the from of Henry comes to the plate!

Henry grounds into a fielder's choice and gets the RBI. Runners at the corners with Power at the plate. Rebels down by 3.

Power gets an RBI single! Ferg comes home, Henry goes to 2nd, Power to 1st. Now Snyder, the winning run, comes to the plate.

Snyder strikes out and the game is over.



Vandy finishes off Arkansas, so Arkansas continues to lead the West with 1 game on LSU and 2 games on the Rebels going into tomorrow.

Give up 9 runs in the first two innings, this tends to happen.

Tough row to garden tool the next two days, no room for error now.

The only bright spots I can see are the facts that if we don't give up 9 freaking runs in two innings...we win 10-4. And since Arkansas lost we are only two games out of first. But LSU did pull ahead of us.

We have the better team in this weekend's series though. No excuse for not sweeping these guys. Credit USC. Coming in here and beating us is not easy even for great teams. They have been struggling and needed a big win and got it tonight.

What we do here will likely determine the season. Unfortunately the LSU losses a few weeks back may show what to expect.
