Me likey. Maybe a little of the hype will die down. these guys are only one season removed from misery. I'm glad to see a wee bit of the pressure removed.

Sorry to doubt you Chucky_38, but I must ask what your source is. I do believe that only you could find a way to negatively spin the pre-season accolades that our Rebels are enjoying.Chucky_38 wrote:To finsih 3rd in the West behind Bama and LSU. Cover of SI, SEC preview addition. 5th according to The Sporting News. 3rd to finish the season a-la-Tim Brando. Snead for Heisman. Ole Miss love from the "World-Wide Leader in Sports". Locally, the sports talk radio hosts representing Atlanta at SEC Media Days fully expect an Ole Miss/Florida SEC Championship match-up right here in my back yard (can't flippin' wait)-the lists can literally go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and, yes, on.
7-5?????
I challange you and your Eeyore-ish ways to come up with 5 losses, looking at our schedule.
Meanwhile, back at the Ranch, I am with the rest of you, whatever doubting Thomas's there are...

strong stuff. Im with OMNOB though. Worst case for me is 9-3. I honestly think that. If we switched jerseys with LSU or Bama we would be a runaway to win the West but "we are Ole Miss". Not much logic to it but games arent decided by history, thats why we play the games man.OMNOB wrote:Sorry to doubt you Chucky_38, but I must ask what your source is. One word baby...DESTINY...after so much heart break this is our year to go to Atlanta for the first time! Let the nay sayers say what they want, 'cause I'm sure Hotty Toddy nation has my back and we'll see them in the ATL, and to those who wonder, that's who the ''F'' we are!
I agree with OMNOB and Big T on this one.
But forget the target nonsense. How can you be considered a TARGET, when everyone says" but hey, they're Ole Miss, sigh". That is a definite hedge = a hugh lack of respect for our program. So we are still the underdog here, and will be until we win on a consistent basis, and start collecting bcs bowls. 2009 could be the beginning of reclaiming our position as one of the SEC powerhouses, but after 30+ years of mediocrity, it is going to take more than 1 1/2 seasons and a CB. This coaching staff, this team is good enough to get us to Atlanta IF we can stay healthy. The hard part is getting to AtL, once there our Rebels will win
But this is only the beginning stage in rebuilding our FB program. I think CHN is in the right place with the right staff around him - Coach KAustin & Coach TNix, and OM finally has the right mindset to establish a championship program. For the first time I really think (not believe) we'll take that next step. Can't wait for KO.

I know my Eeyore-ish ways are annoying amidst all this preseason hoopla...which I am enjoying very much by the way...but I just can't help but see a glass half emtpy after following Ole Miss football for so long. And I got the vote info from the news. (WCBI)
Here is a fact: Since the SEC split in 1992 when Ole Miss is picked to finish 1,2 or 3 in the West...the Rebels have NEVER finished above 4-4. Let that sink in a second. That is under 5 different coaching staffs. Encompassing almost 20 years of football seasons. But now, under THIS staff, with THIS team, we are going to win the West? I've just been following the Rebs to long to believe it. I want it...but I've come to terms with just being a bowl game program.
As for the losses:
Memphis-Win
SELA-Win
USC-Loss
Vandy-Win
Bama-Loss
UAB-Win
Arkansas-Loss...and Petrino runs up the score.
Auburn-Loss
Northern Arizona-Win
Tenn-Win
LSU-Loss
MState-Win
Now we COULD beat USC but if so I think we lose to Vandy. Don't see us winning both of those.
Foward Rebels! March to Fame!
Well, I disagree 100%, but hey its still a free country - BUT RUN UP THE SCORE????????????????? Now that is INSANE.Chucky_38 wrote:You always make me laugh at myself OMNOB.OMNOB wrote:Sorry to doubt you Chucky_38, but I must ask what your source is.
