Hope someone will dig up the facts and let us know what happened. I know that Coach Nutt made the right decision, but it still would be interesing to know what specifically triggered the reversal of the original decision.
I think it would have been good to watch, but I also see the potential for distractions. I can definitely see why CHN backed out.RichmondVAReb wrote:Hope someone will dig up the facts and let us know what happened. Thank God! We did not need this distraction and with cameras rolling our guys might have been mugging it up with that d*** landshark thing instead of having those blinders on.
Great decision!

Yeah, that TV show was so. . . . ."Starkville." 8ORebchuck18 wrote:Thank God! We did not need this distraction and with cameras rolling our guys might have been mugging it up with that d*** landshark thing instead of having those blinders on.

You've just got to learn from the wrong things you've done. I came off the rebound, started looking around, figured out it's time to have a little fun.
Brilliant....just brilliant, wish I would have thought of that 8)parrotreb wrote:Yeah, that TV show was so. . . . ."Starkville." 8ORebchuck18 wrote:Thank God! It was simply a matter that the show wanted too much access and the show canceled when Nutt restricted their access.RichmondVAReb wrote:Hope someone will dig up the facts and let us know what happened. Obviously over here hanging out in the land of minority...
...I hate this decision.
Of course, from the personal standpoint, I was very much looking forward to viewing the show. But from the perspective of the school and it's program, I just cannot see the exposure being a bad thing.
For one, it would finally distinguish us from Mississippi State in the eyes of the casual ESPN viewer. Two, it would help immensely on the recruiting trail, and three bring something positive to the state as a whole.
Just one man's opinion, I know, but if fear of distractions is the reason that the plug was pulled-yeah, pun to ensue-Houston, we have a problem.
How does it differ that much from what the players are currently faced with in having to deal with the hype that the National media has bestowed upon them?
In that respect, I say, so far, so good. So what if you see the "Landshark" pose thrown about? It's a Hip-Hop World, and these are kids. I personally do not see the harm in having some fun playing the game that most of the guys have played since their early childhood and been the majority of the "fun" that they have had all their lives to this point.
Again, if "distractions" got this deal axed, I thing we might already have some issues lurking.

"America is the New York Yankees of countries, powerful and respected until the year 2000"-Homer Simpson
I don't think so....good folks can be distracted when there is something taking place other than your main objective...OMNOB wrote: Again, if "distractions" got this deal axed, I thing we might already have some issues lurking.
You can have a class of honor students and if you put cameras in the classroom , at some point that will be a distraction.
As far as this being a hip hop world....that is one of the reasons that these young folks have a distorted set of values and we don't need to accept that type of behavior or culture in every environment. That is one of the problems with some of the poorly performing schools...they don't draw that line.
But those are discussion for another time and another forum...I still think anything that even MIGHT dilute focus is a bad thing so I am glad this thing has been called off.
The Oher movie is going to do much more to enlighten people about the good aspects of Ole Miss than this thing would have.

not to nit-pick, but it was gonna be on TrueTV (formerly CourtTV), not an ESPN network, so there is a good chance the only people who would have watched are those that already know the difference b/n Ole Miss and State, i.e. Ole Miss fans.OMNOB wrote:For one, it would finally distinguish us from Mississippi State in the eyes of the casual ESPN viewer.
