Backoff R, he is not costing a scholly this year
But I was wondering the same thing. Andrew is a kicker, not a punter.
But he is a helluva kicker and there will be a time in the future when you will be sitting in your sweet seats and he wins a big game and you will say "Give that kid a scholly"
I will refrain from any further comment on the kicker. I had forgotten that you know him personally.
His dad has been my best friend since Nixon was in office, but you need not refrain. If he misses a chippy against LSU or something like that, not only will I probably cuss him, but I may even call his dad and cuss him too

I would expect that this early in workouts. As a a matter of fact if that wasn't the case I would be worried about the DL. Going against our DL in workouts will assist in the development of this OL . I have faith that by the time we play that first conference game the OL will be game ready and as has been stated, with the diversity and dynamic of our offense, they won't be as vulnerable if they were just blocking for a drop back passing attack or grind it out running game.
yea, heard an interview (yesterday?) with HN who when asked the question - how to develop the O-line/newbies/Massie - replied have 'em go against one of the best DL in the country - ours. If by the end of camp the DL is being challenged, then we'll know it worked. Think the D guys enjoy this part of the process - a lot.
OT, looks like the Rebels are doing their bit to slim down MS. Go Rebs!
I paid closer attention to the Defensive side of the ball today... here are my bullet observations...
1. Emmanual McCray is almost as big as Bobbie Massie and was having a good day... it looked like he was trying a lot harder and was very effective... I am not concerned with our O line situation due to the talent of our Skill positions...all our linemen will have to do is get in the way for a few seconds to keep Jevan safe... our playmakers are very quick and Jevan is really very quick with his decisions...it will take an extremely good Defense (better than ours) to wreak any havoc in our backfield.
2. Korvic Neat IS a Dexter Clone but he is also smaller, lets hope he is as tough.
3. Tim Simon is a RB plain and simple... it would be such a waste of talent to make him into a LB
4. Joel Kight is an extremely good LB with Good Vision and quick feet...I can see why our coaches wanted him s badly.
5. grandy showed me today why he was such a wanted man... he runs good routes and he has some pretty soft hands.
6. Melvin Harris isn't slow... he only looks like it because of his frame... he is really covering ground with that long stride. Did I mention he has the softest hands I have ever seen.
7. Tig is trying really hard to get up to speed and is making steady progress.
8. Johnny Brown and Derrick Herman are now interchangeable... both are great
9.Powe made a big interception today and ran it back 30 yds for a TD. A good time was had by all when that happened.
10. Lawon Scott, Powe and Ted laurent are now interchangeable...all are really solid tacklers.
11.Greg Hardy isn't feeling any pain on the field and his play today showed it. He is still very dangerous.
12.Craig Drummond is making a solid push to get into the rotation... it would appear that his light finally came on.
13.Pat Patterson is already as good as Shay Hodge...the sky is the limit for him. He is so strong in the upper body that he just sort of shoves them (defenders) out of the way... he is pretty good at separating himself from defenders.
14.The practice intensity has never been more evident...every player I saw was trying diligently to get better.
15. The Upperclassmen deserve a lot of credit for keeping the intensity hig and expectations too. I saw Greg Hardy telling Alex Williams how to attack...Alew looks like Kentrell Locket did last year.
16. Marcus Temple, Charles Sawyer will be in the rotation this fall.
17.Jason Jones will give Jonathan Cornell a much needed break this fall.
18.DT Shackleford will also make the LB corp rotation this fall.
This is all I can think of at this time... I will see if I can watch a little more tomorrow.

Hagar, I have a question for you. What makes you like Sawyer better than Campbell?
Also, what do you plan on wearing to practice tomorrow

I like the effort you have put into these reports, and I respect you for that. But you might want to take off your red shades and set down the blue Kool-aid a little bit. Pat Patterson as good as Shay Hodge?
Another good report. Thanks, Hagar! Like your bullet point format, too.
Questions:
*heard that Rishaw Johnson was demoted to 3rd string - any info?
*Any info on Dele Junaid? Expected to be hearing about him early, but so far nothing. Insight?

I stand by my statement...I have seen him up close and personal.

I think Sawyer and Campbell are both interchangeable...it was late and I was tired when I posted my thoughts and I couldn't remember who that other CB was. I knew that I was missing something but couldn't for the life of me remember what it was. Pardon me, I am still mortal and infallible. I will try to do better.
I almost always have my Tilley Hat on. Just look for a Fat Guy with a Tilley Hat.
Patterson may eventually be better than Shay Hodge but right now Ill take the active SEC leader in recieveing. Patterson will be good though and will get some burn when dex is at Rb and may lock up the #3 spot early in the season, IMO.
You going to scrimmage Saturday? I know you have to work...so prob. not....I am going to try to make it.... is it open to the public? If I go...I will post my thoughts.
Anyway....one thought....
I think you could take our 2nd string DL and compare it to the great all time DL's at Ole Miss. That is amazing to me.
All the kings horses and all the kings men for a SEC championship!

Naw, I won't be at the scrimmage...and yes our #2's are as good as any DL as Ole Miss has ever had and probably even a little bit better...last year was 4th in the nation against the run...I expect even higher this year due to the added depth and familiarity with the schemes. Yes it is opne to the public and is the lasat public viewing of the teams practices. I imagine they might have one more Public scrimmage that isn't announced but it isn't announced yet. Please do post... we need more of that.

I believe I read somewhere that the scrimmage on Meet the Rebels Day (August 22) will be open, but don't remember where.
I watched practice today and I don't think it was quite as "crisp" as the first 2 days were... maybe the soreness is setting in on some of the guys or the heat was a little more apparent for them.
now for some points.
1. I will now be really upset if they put Tim Simon as an LB... he is simply a RB and a good one.
2. G Hard isn't favoring his foot in any of the drills I saw.
3. Snead was either having an off day or the D pressure was "hurrying" him a little I couldn't really decide which.
4.The Offense and Defense are about even for this time of the year... usually the D is a little ahead of the O.
5. Kendrick Lewis is a very vocal leader...I like that.
6.Gerald Harris is probably the best TE Ole Miss has ever had... PERIOD.
There may have been some things I missed but my mind was wandering a lot today...otherwise practice was just more of the same things I mentioned earlier in the week.

now that is saying alot considering Kris Mangum, Wesley Walls, Rufus French, and Doug Ziegler (who, IMO, would have been a high draft pick w/o the injury).
