That is hilarious.....defense is just a rumor in the little 12 (south or north)...I can not wait until Texas actually has to face an SEC team in post season. It will not be pretty...You saw what happened when Texas Tech roughed these San Francisco, TX (that's my nickname for Austin) boys even a little bit.

If our DL gets a shot at Colt McCoy, even I will be doing the landshark! 8O

I guess with Oklahoma state ranked so high they are saying the top 3 there is better than the top 3 of any SEC division this year and they may be right especially since 2 major SEc programs are in transistion phases with coaching staffs. I actually think OSU is over rated and hopefully Georiga put's a whupping on them.

They think Texas can match up with anyone in the SEC right now and probabaly right.
They think Oklahoma/ Texas can match up with the wests #2 or Georgia.
Oklahoma State I can't see matching up well with the wests #3 but I might be wrong. But they are ranked higher than TN and SC so I can see where they come to that conclusion for the east.

But then #4 in the big12south would probabaly be better than either Arkansas or Auburn right now, maybe not in a couple years though. We'll see Ark play A&m so that should tell us something. Baylor would probabaly be better than MSU.

Right now I can see where they can make a good argument but after these new coaches have a couple years to get their systems and players in place it won't be that way b/c the population base of talent is too good in the SEC region.

Agree with above.

And defense or no defense, those offenses are still fantastic.

They weren't paying attention during the bowl season last year.

Exactly..two of the three co-champs of the Big 12 were 0-2 against the SEC in the post season. Texas, as usual, avoided an SEC post season opponent and instead got an opponent from the "Slow 10"....Oklahoma was hanging 50+ points up against Big 12 defenses all year long and managed 14 against a real SEC defense.

I will give Muschamp credit..he is trying to bring some SEC defense to Texas. But right now, they just aren't there. Yea, the offensive numbers are huge, but if you pressure their QB's and actually cover their receivers, they become very very normal.

Every now and then even the homers here in Austin let the truth slip out. There is an afternoon sports talk show on the local ESPN radio station..the two hosts are absolute Longhorn homers (which is okay by me). It would be about like Chuck Rounsaville hosting a show. One of these guys runs a website called OrangeBloods.com and he was talking about one of the defensive ends at Texas' practice today and he said the guy was "so good he almost (emphasis on almost) looked like an SEC defensive end".

So even the Longhorn homers know what the true standard of measure is.

The SEC is hands down better than the BIg 12 top to bottom, but the the B12 S is the is the strongest division. That said are satisfactory at best in the north. The SEC just can help that its big dogs are actually in both divisions. All that said I think conference cheer leading is for pansies. I have no interest in pulling for or defending the legitimacy of LSoo, State, Tenna-see, Bamuh, ever for any reason.

I want Ole Miss to be feared because their Ole Miss not because their a member of the SEC.

I still think that if Ole Miss, LSU and Bama played a round robin against Texas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State the SEC would have more wins.
