Bummer!?!? BOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/sec/0-8-140/ ... e-SEC.html

Maybe, but I don't think so. His reasons are handling the hype and getting too cocky for Ole Miss. A student named Will told me yesterday that Jevan has changed since last year, though. But who wouldn't to some extent, with as much exposure as he's getting?
At any rate, I still say Rebs beat Bummer.

It is interesting about Herbstreit. I saw one article he wrote that placed Ole Miss and #5 preseason (maybe 4 months or so ago). I did, however, notice that a post on the Spirit public board showed how all the AP sportswriters voted in the Aug. 22 AP poll. Herbstreit voted Alabama #5 and Ole Miss #9, so he must have changed his earlier opinion. In your video that you linked, he said the reason he doesn't pick Ole Miss is due to all the hype, plus he feels bama has the best defense in the nation and a good quarterback to go with it.

Let's see how the games are played first though before we give up on Ole Miss. I think we'll win the west and beat bama, despite their referees.

Bob I know you mean well and I want to thank you for posting this, However, just because Herbstriet's mouth opens and closes, don't mean his A$$ is a prayerbook. You know this too I am sure. I don't put a lot of stock in preseason opinions regarding Ole Miss.

Now you can count on what you have seen yourself...I have seen this team with my own eyes and I will tell you right now that we are a better team than we were last year hands down. You can take that to the bank.
Later,
Hagar

Bama is the safe pick. We'll see how it plays out.

How is Bama a safe pick? Yes their defense is going to be outstanding this year, but they are having to fill the holes of the offensive line much more than Ole Miss, and they have a new quarterback.

I remember when Micheal Spurlock was going to be better than Eli was. Then he got in a game and decided getting hit was no fun and became a head case. Now that might not happen to Mcleroy but it is quite possible that at QB just because you practice well doesn't mean squat come game time. Look at Snead himself he started the season with happy feet and feeling false pressure after being hit in games and forcing the ball down the field. Luckily he listen to his coaches and realized he didn't have to make every play.

So I feel LSU may be the one that gives us the most trouble this year especially since they hired Chavis and won't have that mess of dual coordinators on defense.

But this all comes down to injuries and turnovers so we will get the joys of seeing it all play out!

Bama is a safe pick because they have most of their tough games at home, their most difficult road SEC opponent is at Ole Miss where they have won two straight and they have top 5 talent to plug in the holes. They are in better shape than anyone in the SEC West in terms of talent and schedule and depth.

But you may be right about their qb not working out. Nothing would please me more than Bama going 5-7! But I think when you look at everything objectively, Bama has the best chance of winning the West.

I hate that Herb picked against us b/c more times than not over the years he's been right. He's called ALOT of upsets too.

At this point I guess you'd have to say Bama not going back would be an upset. But I still think we can do it. We might even beat them but lose more conference games. CRAP!!!
done

To me getting to Atlanta with an unproven QB when arguably the second best QB in the country plays in your division would be the upset.

They lost their QB AND their left tackle...so you have a rookie who will have a rookie protecting his blind side...

But HEY, I'll bite....Bama should win it all....strictly because they are BAMA....we will be lucky to stay within 4 TD's of them..

I love it!!!
