THANKS A LOT GUYS!!! I live in central Arkansas and all I've heard for 3 days on sports radio is how the Ole Miss defeat was all Houston Nutt's fault. How he left the hogs with no talent. With a hog win, Petrino's a genious, they lose Houston's at fault. Well they're correct, Houston did have a big hand in this loss
It amazes me that Houston was able to bring McFadden, Jones, and Hillis to the hogs with all the negative fans here. Anyway just to give you an idea how hateful these fans still are this is an excerpt from local writer wally hall. hall was a huge fan of Houstons till something in Houston's 5th year made wally turn on him. wally started the outcry to get Houston fired back then. Now wally just keeps stirring the pot.

LIKE IT IS: Nutt awfully festive after beating Arkansas
By Wally Hall

LITTLE ROCK — They met at midfield for the customary handshake.
It lasted the normal few seconds, and a disappointed Bobby Petrino turned and walked off the field.

An incredibly happy Houston Nutt lingered for pictures and video. His twin daughters were there.
It was a moment he was cherishing thoroughly. His Ole Miss players doused him with Gatorade after beating 3-3 Arkansas in a game that wasn’t as close as the 30-17 score.

After observing and writing about approximately 125 Nutt-coached games, this scribe thinks this one was his best ever.
He managed the clock and his team.

He didn’t ask the Rebels to do things they couldn’t do,and he relied heavily on his biggest weapon, Dexter Mc-Cluster.
Mostly, he coached to win.

His joy after the game was hard earned and well deserved. But it will always be a bit puzzling why he feels so vindicated for beating the school where he coached for 10 years before quitting to take the Ole Miss job.
He was not fired or run off at Arkansas. At Nutt’s final UA news conference Nov. 26, 2007, when it was announced he was quitting, then-Chancellor John White said emphatically he had offered Nutt a contract extension and that it had been turned down.

So by dragging this stuff around for two-three years...following Nutt across State lines...you intend to prove ...it wasn't just an obsession? We have elected Presidents with more baggage...Re-elected some of them. Your school just hired scum, because it's all about winning, really.
But hang on to those FOIA requests...and you may be able to figure out where your new coach ( the one with character) is headed next.

Thanks for posting that...just more evidence how batsh!t crazy and obsessed your fanbase actually is.

Oh, I almost forgot:

31-17.

you used the least respected reporter in arkansas as your example, and nutt didnt recruit jones or mcfadden....bobby allen worked his tail off to get jones here, nutt told him it was a lost cause, but jones selected us on signing day...mcfadden committed as soon as he could and didn't take a single visit, he grew up a hog fan and had it tatted on his body.... nutt did recruit hillis, who took plenty of time to look around and had plenty of offers so i'll give you that... but regardless of the last 10 years, it will be fun to watch this slow trainwreck that is Ole Miss...33-20 snead sucked again, only 1 receiver caught a pass all game, winning when your not supposed to, losing when your not supposed to

Hope you enjoyed that one post...probably your LAST.

Look, all this stuff is rediculous. Yes, Arkansas has crazy/stupid fans just like every other football team in America. The fact is Nutt's time at Arkansas had run its course. 10 years as Head Coach of any SEC school is a very long tenure with ZERO SEC Championships or BCS Bowl appearances (not that these are easy for Arkansas, but they are goals worth shooting for). Honestly, Nutt should have been shown the door in 2005 after back-to-back 4 & 5 win seasons, but his contract was extended for reasons I will never know. Nutt more than served his purpose at Arkansas and did a fine job while he was there, but it was time for a coaching change.

Please don't let the actions of a few reflect poorly on us all. Nutt is a good coach and will serve Ole Miss well. Arkansas is happy with our new coaching arrangement. End of story.

Hope this helps.

It does. I think 10 years is a long time, and I'll be honest I'd expect a coach that comes to ole miss to take us to an second championship game once in 10 years. If not, then I would be ready to move on. If nutt can do that, then that will make me happy.

It's about perception when certain accomplishment's are achieved. If Nutt would've won 2-3 less games last year and then this year won 9-10, I am sure the way some folks viewed him would differ.

Nolan Richardson said something while at Ark. He says if you build a monster, you have to feed it. Toward the latter part of his career, Ark was still going to the tournament and competing. But, it was not at the level we knew we could be at.

Nutt built high expectations at Ark with 17 wins in 2 years. Thru time, the expectations may have elevated and obviously with the exception of one year, we never met those goals.

Every fan base has some people that are just happy with rings, other's just want bowls, and other's just want a good time. Problem with that is, winning is really, really fun. Our 10 win season, top 5 ranking and heisman runner up season was a blast. OM's cotton bowl campaign I am sure was a blast with Eli.

It's like a drug, you want/need more of it. I don't think there's anyone in Ark that thinks we should honestly be National Championship Contender's every year. But, I do expect us to compete, improve and maintain a certain level of being relevant in the west.

Think OM's realistic expectations are near the same. Cause, that's an achievable goal with the right systems in place.

the jury is still out on how good a coach nutt is, but I really doubt that Arkansas will ever again reach the heights that they reached under him. Of course, that has as much to do with the growing strength at certain other SEC schools as it has to do with anything else.
