Msu had a game plan of doing what they do best. That is all they did. Our def ends have not been oriented to that style offense and they got blocked all day. Don't let this game bother ya cause any team can get up only once or twice like that for a game in a season. I look at it more like when we beat Fla last year. If Msu had another game to play it would be like what Corso said about Ark before we played them. "they shot their wad last week". Congrats to msu for making it work but that game has nothing to do with where our program has come or where it is going.

Yeah, beating our in-state SEC rival doesn't mean anything.

We won 8 games last year. We were poised to have a break out year(and would've if it weren't for the play of two or three important individuals) and didn't. We won 8 games in a year where we played N. Ariz., UAB, SELA, and Memphis. We lose J. Jerry, M. Green, Hardy, Geralds(probably), etc. Oh, and McCluster, the best player on the team.

I'm sorry, with that team, that talent, and that schedule, 8 wins is NOT a step in the right direction. We will have talent next year, but inexperienced, young talent. It's a rebuilding year IMO. So, no, this year was a wash and a HUGE waste of an opportunity for our program.

Last year Nutt said these players need to learn how to win. He was exactly right. This year they had to learn how to sustain winning. It is harder than the first of those two learning curves. Dont count us out so quickly next year.

I actually have great hope still, but in order to sustain and more importantly improve and reach our potential we must have QB leadership and play that is not afraid of the spotlight, but instead welcomes it. That will always be the difference in the ultimate achievement of a championship team. I believe that will once again prove true this Saturday in the SEC Championship game. Florida has a QB that says...hey shine that light on me...follow me....I PROMISE I will get you there. And he backs it up baby. Not the most talented QB, maybe even on his own team, just someone who believes in himself and his team and knows no fear. That is what we need. I also think that is what Bama will need to close the deal as well. Not sure they have that either.

slumps become self fulfilling prophecies and are hard to pull out of. You get frustrated and rush things and make it worse and lose more confidence. Several factors drew Jevan into his slump-- the flu, new offensive line and the biggest factor I think was the death of his grandfather-- and once he got there, he just spiraled down and never really got his confidence fully back. He had some good moments but there was always that doubt there. With a long period to prepare for the next game, he could potentially have a good bowl and that lead him into next year. A lot depends on coaching but most depends on him.

I still don't buy into the "slump" theory. He started off last year the same way. And even in the Cotton Bowl he started off erratically. Yes the flu and his traumatic personal losses would take their toll...but he was still throwing pick sixes in the 12th game. He seems to be a great kid and he has, I think, tremendous talent. I am just not sure that he has the intangibles to really be a consistent difference maker that a championship QB is. I thinK he lacks pocket presence, vision, and that fire that makes you rise to a challenge.

Man I hope he proves me wrong next year. I start every game just hoping that he gets it right. I want it just as badly for him as I do the team. I will never be more happy to eat my words if he steps up in his senior year!

I bet Stanley gets a legit shot at qb this spring. That will get something started in the right direction. He didn't have that last year.
