While loyalty is something I definitely respect, I think Cutcliffe is loyal to a fault. It seems that he places the welfare of his coaches and his personal relationships with them over the welfare of the program...which should be first priority. It cost him his job at Ole Miss and now it appears to have cost him the HC position at UT.

I agree that he is probably loyal to a fault but I still respect the man for it. Not much loyalty in today's world of college football. He really may be too nice a guy. Good for him, his coaches, and his family. There is a lot less pressure at Duke. He can do things there the way he wants to.... for now.

I agree with Rebellious. I respected Cut when he stood up for his staff here and I think I respect it even more in this case. Why would anyone take a head coaching job in such a volatile place if they couldn't pick the staff that will have so much impact on success or failure.

TN may find a better coach, but they lost the chance to hire a good man, which would have been a great step up in that characteristic.

All true. Rebel fans know better than most that Cutt may have been in over his
head at UT -- but also know what a true friend & neighbor.
Tuberville would have fired his own mother to save his ass and he is a paragon
of virtue compared to the likes of Baby Lane Kiffen or smarmy little Bobby Petrino.

I think we would all agree that Cutt was a very good person, father, and friend. I agree, also. I have the highest regard for him as a man of integrity, loyalty, and devotion.
Duke's a great place for him to be. I'd have stayed if it were me.

It's being reported here that Cut's name was thrown about at TN but he was never offered ths job. One thing he's proven is that he is in no way SEC HC material. He would be smart to stay put where he will be a hero if he wins just four or five games a year

Kiffen may do ok in a powder puff conference. I dont think he can make it here though. It's funny how people are really goofing on him and Cookie Monster here in TN. I havent heard Colonel Reb is crying on the radio but I've heard some other funny parody stuff

We will have to agree to disagree on that. Still the most successful coach we have had Post-Vaught...think Nutt will be more successful, but he will have to piece together 4 or 5 good years to do it.
