According to published reports Wednesday evening, The University of Mississippi has admitted former Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli into graduate school.
He will be eligible to play for the Rebels this Fall.
Masoli plead guilty to a misdemeanor burglary charge in March of this year and was arrested on a possession of marijuana charge in June. He was subsequently dismissed from Oregon's football roster.
For Ole Miss, adding the star quarterback changes their expectations in conference play. The Rebels last week were picked to finish last by college football journalists at SEC Media Week in Birmingham.
Ole Miss also recently lost quarterback Raymond Cotton, who quit the team on Saturday, leaving the Rebels with only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.
If everything goes according to plan in Oxford, Masoli brings dual-threat skills to the Mississippi team. The 5'11" signal caller is the kind of player that can change a game on his own, something that Ole Miss will need after losing Jevan Snead to the NFL draft.
There is still some legal red tape that Masoli will have to get through before he can hit the practice field. The University would have to request a waiver from Oregon, and a judge would have to determine that moving to Mississippi would not violate Masoli's probation.
More details are yet to come on this story, but with Mississippi's admittance of the troubled Pac-10 champion quarterback, the biggest step has apparently been taken.
If Masoli does indeed hit the field in the SEC this fall, there are many matchups that will instantly receive more attention. On October 23rd, the Rebels visit Arkansas in a key SEC West battle. If Masoli can face-off with consensus First-Team All-SEC QB Ryan Mallett, it would be the kind of matchup college football fans dream of.
For those of us who love SEC football, this is exciting news. And another reminder of why the off-season is so suspenseful.

Word is that he (Ryan) will not play until the 4th or 5th game but BobbyO won't discuss it......it seems that the REPLACED *beep* hasn't healed according to plan. There's a very small chance that he may not play all season.......this is the real reason that hoggieboy is visiting here.....his program and its fanbase is dying off rather quickly.jrebel87 wrote:Dont hate hog man, it looks like mallet won't be the only cream of the qb crop in the west this season! That is of course unless mallet misses games like he did spring practice.....

Ryan is ready to go and will practice with the team and go full speed, not sure where you get your info. You may want to check your info before saying false statements. If Masoli makes it to Ole Miss then congrats.

Easy....it came from a hawg buddy of mine....he lives in Arkie and heard it on some radio show this week. They discussed in detail the injury, the replacement *beep*, and even had a surgeon (NOT Ryan's surgeon, of course, due to doctor/patient confidentiality) in to discuss the surgery itself and the rehab involved. He's having swelling since coming out of the boot......which is not good by this good doctor's opinion.Razorback wrote:ThunderReb wrote:Word is that he (Ryan) will not play until the 4th or 5th game but BobbyO won't discuss it......it seems that the REPLACED *beep* hasn't healed according to plan. There's nothing wrong with being optimistic, but you need to be drinking your hoggie-juice over at Hogville. If he's at 100% by game 1; then congrats.
You should tell your buddy he should stop listening to DT( Drive Time) they have know idea what is going on. BP said last night that Ryan was fine and nothing was going to hold him back. Bobby P is not going to put a kid in harms way just to practice By the way Im not a fan of Hogville, they are just as bad as Drive Time. Practice starts next Thursday and you will see Ryan out there throwing and running with the team. Good luck this season and hope the best for your team.

Hi guys, I hope the Masoli thing works out, it has the potencial to be a great comeback story. Good Luck to your team this year.badmotorfinger wrote:I know it hurts so go do what you guys do to relieve the stress...like your sister/cousin/aunt/grandma....but hurry up before your dad pulls rank.
Now, make fun of Arkansans for being rednecks and hillbillies if you must. But remeber, the KKK doesn't hold rallies at our games.

A couple rednecks gettin booed off campus for spreading hate hardly qualifies as a "rally"Jack The BN wrote:Hi guys, I hope the Masoli thing works out, it has the potencial to be a great comeback story. Enough said.

HOTTY TODDY!!!
GO REBELS!!!
GO REBELS!!!
By the way, Hogman, one of my very close friends is a very big Hog fan, and I asked him if Mallet were not at Arky this year, and you were in the same situation Ole Miss is in now, would you want to accept a PAC-10 champion, Rose Bowl QB on your team for a year? And he said "Well, yeah I would want him."
We are hearing this kind of stuff from State fans also. Other schools are upset that Ole Miss will probably be better with Masoli than without him. State fans are just pi$$ed that Masoli is not coming to Starkville (although they would take him in a munute!).
And by the way, my fellow Rebelfaithful brothers/sisters, if I ever destroy the English language and use some of the incorrect grammar that is used on this board (especially by trolls), will you please let me know that I sound like white, trailer-park trash
