I think coach Nutt is going to have a surprise for the over-rated razorbacks. Arkansas has no defense and our new QB will have burn them with his running. Mallett is slow and he showed me nothing last year against us. I think we win this game by 20 easy.
Where I think many games on our schedule are winable, I don't see an easy win at all within the sec. Any sec team can bite you. As for the Ark game, they will be favored to win even if we are undefeated and beat Bama. They are the media darlings this year. Yes we can win that game but it aint gonna be easy.

1. both teams are gonna be sore after this game
2. I am naturally suspicious of anyone whose first post involves Akansas

No matter what you think of the rest of the Arkie team (coaches, students, and fans included), Mallett is the real deal (unlike the media phantom we had wandering around our backfield last year). If our defense has any weakness, it will be the tendency of the DBs to give up big plays. You can count on Mallett to burn us for a couple. But the flip side is that they won't be able to run against us. And their defense is just as weak as it was last year, but our offense will be vastly improved. I see this as being the highest scoring SEC game we have this year......but I still think we pull it out!

I'm not sure I'm seeing a high scoring game. Arkansas has a couple of redshirt freshman that are rotating alot in with the first team in the interior offensive line. They have one OT that is predicted to be the first Tackle drafted and another that is decent but false start prone. Based on what I'm seeing in summer camps and thinking Ole Miss could have as many as 5 players but at least 2 on the front 4 rotating in that should command a double team to keep them out of the backfield. Much of that game could shape up to be 9 vs 11. I don't like Arkansas' chance to block the combo of powe scott locket dorsey laurent armor whatsoever. If/when Ole Miss can stop their weak running game with 6 in the box, it could be a game that shapes up alot like last year although I think at home Arkansas' defense will play hard and keep them in the game til the 4th if they can stop the power run which Petrino's teams generally can't.Married An OM Girl wrote:No matter what you think of the rest of the Arkie team (coaches, students, and fans included), Mallett is the real deal (unlike the media phantom we had wandering around our backfield last year). I have a friend who is pretty much a degenerate sports gambler. He thinks the most important statistic in college football is the number of cumulative starts on the offensive line. We have a grand total of 22. I think it is the lowest in the SEC. Based on that he thinks we are an UNDER bet in every game, and will often not cover the spread when we are the favorite. I don't buy it, but it is an interesting stat to follow.
well my $$ on our D everytime - Mallet may be Elway/Montana/Manning(s)/Brady/#4 combined, but its hard to hit your wr/te/rb when you're on your rump 8)
Per Nutt tweet: Just announced 2010 team captains: Breaux, Johnny Brown, Cornell, Lockett & Powe. They're the heart & soul of our team!
Indeed.

I will talk about the 7th game on the schedule just as soon as we finish that 6th game on the schedule...not one minute before!
I agree that it has potential to be a good game but as you infer, a lot can happen between now and then. Pass happy offenses, like Petrino's, are tough on defenses. You have to have a much better defense to get the same numbers as a more traditional team. There is a reason that all but two current SEC coaches are run first and no pass happy coach has been successful in the SEC since the Spurrier Florida days.spudhog wrote:This is going to be a good game, as of now. Injuries and etc will reshape this game before it comes along. If the Ark QB spends all of his day on his back, OM will win. Ark defense will be better but I am not sure how much.
That's why Ark is going to run more this season. Petrino is never going to be one to sit on the sidelines and shoot for certain numbers out of the passing/running games. But, any team that has hopes of winning the SEC needs to have the ability to do either when they need too.JustBlues wrote:I agree that it has potential to be a good game but as you infer, a lot can happen between now and then. It's ok to pass for more yards than you run as long as you can do both IMO.
