and answering your quesion, no I don't see any coaches on that list making less money that have won an SEC championship. I guarantee you that if one making less ever does win, or even seriously compete, for an SEC championship, they will jump to the top of the list, whether at their current school or at a new job. $2.6 million will not buy an SEC champion coach.
Don't take this the wrong way, but you're missing something here.

First, I said Championship coaches, not SEC championships... But since you brought it up, Spurrier comes to mind.... Maybe it was before your time, but he won SEC championships.

Second, Why do you still say "If..."????? Time to snap you out of the trance...

Not trying to insult your intelligence, but one of them WILL win the SEC Championship THIS YEAR!!!! That is the point i was getting at! It's not a hypothetical anymore! Have you been following the conference this year???

The championship game is set!

Chizik or Spurrier WILL win an SEC Championship this season. Nutt makes more than either of them.

$2.6 million is a good salary than CAN buy a championship coach... Case and Point!
Well shoot darn, why don't we hire one of them? I don't want a "championship coach" unless he can win SEC championships. Yes, either chizik or spurrier will win the sec championship this year but good luck trying to hire him. As far as the other, Nutt has come just as close on THREE occasions. Is Nutt great? No. Is he good? Yes. Are we going to go out and offer what we are giving him to someone who has proven themselves to be better and expect them to come? No. it is not going to happen. We have a proven coach. We can take a risk and bring in someone who MIGHT be a diamond in the rough just waiting to take the reins and lead an SEC program, but if he does and turns this program into a powerhouse, we'd better be ready to up his pay way beyond $2.6 million to keep him. We are NOT going to be able to go out and hire a coach with a proven record of winning in the SEC with $2.6 million a year. We have a coach with a proven record of winning in the SEC. One with 43 SEC wins and 3 division championships. For now, we should keep him. If we crash and burn to this degree next year, then perhaps it will be time to get the rope ready and meet him at the railway station. If we get to that we will either need to be ready to pony up a LOT more cash if we want to get a coach with Nutt's record in the SEC OR roll the dice and hire an up and coming coordinator or a promising coach from a small conference or lower division. If that happens, my vote is for Smart, but I don't know if he will be available come next year.

I don't really see why some Ole Miss fans keep saying "if" in reference to WINNING and also "we played a great game"

for the..

"if" ---> well, again, the rebel black bears lost. and our only chance of beating State is the advantage of our boys being on their home field.

as for the
"we played a great game" ---> it d*** sure was a great game.. but we still lost. and L is an L.

as for the coaching staff----> nix is on a 3 year contract. so he still has 2 more years. BLAHHHH.

AND HOUSTON- WE HAVE A PROBLEM

Neither Nix nor Nutt should go now in my opinion, but both seats have officially become hot. The special teams coach needs to be sent packing. Rader should either re-retire or become a full-time QB coach and lose the coordinator title. Markuson should return to being the oline coach. This three o-coordinator scheme just isn't going to work. The secondary coach needs to understand that we'd better see a marked improvement in that area. Those are my opions for what its worth. Nix should probably hire a linebacker coach instead of doing the job himself.

Tit for Tat...

Can we ALL agree we didn't get our $2.6 million "dollars' worth" out of Nutt this year?
