So no staff changes! At least not yet...

Woo hoo... I'm excited about next year!

I think we can win 5, maybe 6 with current staff.

The last time this staff had a four win season, they followed it with a 10 win season and an SEC west championship.

Guaranteed they will work harder this year with their job on the line. I think we have a good year.

Not with Nix as defensive coordinator!

I still wonder what Nutt is gonna say at 4 PM that he "wants the team to hear from me (Nutt), before they read about it."

Then why didn't they work as hard as they could this season?

The past two years we've had one of the top defenses in the country with Nix at the helm. Nix's biggest problem this year is that he kept trying to scheme as if he had the same players as last year and the year before and didn't adapt to the talent he had, at least not quick enough to stop the bleeding. Based on his past success, I do not favor firing him after one bad year, but he darn sure better learn from the bad year. If we don't stop turning the ball over and improve our coverage teams, it won't matter who our defensive coordinator is. No defense can survive consistently being put in bad situations. Opponents have started with great field position all year.

And our offense needs to convert 3rd downs at a better rate than 33%...that just means that many more times your defense has to come back onto the field.

if we had converted 33% of our third downs on Saturday, we may well have won. We were 3 of 17.

I wasn't looking forward to all the turmoil that comes with a coaching search, but in a way, I am almost disappointed a change isn't happening.

I like Houston Nutt and all, but I have already resigned to the fact that we'll be good, and almost - sometimes - great, but never the best, in the SEC.

Houston Nutt has had some great years, but he's had 13 of them, and not one championship. We're outcoached almost every game, and it seems that this staff doesn't learn anything from their redundency.

What's the definition of insanity again?

Coach Nutt, please hire an offensive coordinator. Please?

They got distracted by a supposed quick fix and didn't keep their nose to the developmental grind stone, and the whole thing turned upside down and sideways out and everybody just started running around...rudderless...aimlessly...in some kind of frantic state of panic...cats and dogs, living together...lions and tigers and BEARS..OH MY! 8O

And whose responsibility is it to keep a team focused?

I agree on this as well. You could tell that there was confusion and no cohesiveness to this team. They did not think and act as one. It was every man for himself trying to make the best play they could...but going the wrong way, dropping passes, throwing without thinking it out, etc....like opening up a bag of marbles and throwing them into a cast iron tub....you get the picture.

Nutt's..which is why I say you shouldn't dump it all on Nix... BUT given where we were when he came on board and the fact that two out of three seasons were d*** good (especially from where we were) you can not just start firing folks after one bad year...we tried that before....short sighted and you wind up with a Neanderthal! 8O
