We are 23-16 now, a horrible record. And I'm beginning to think that our team is just horrible because of the errors they commit every single game. We now lead the sec in errors committed and have committed over 15 errors in the past 5 games. I'm sorry but theres no excuse for that, thats just a lack of focus. Get it together rebels.

On the plus side........(aside from the juco plugins) we're basically young.jrebel87 wrote:We are 23-16 now, a horrible record. Not gonna dispute the need for a real hitting coach, but Auburn didn't get 13 hits off Crouse. His stat line was 6 innings, 7 hits, 2 er, 5 Ks and 1 bb. Thats considered a quality start. IMO, Bianco pulled Crouse too early. I know he was at 110 pitches after 6, but he looked to have at least one more inning in him.Heath wrote:I really think we need a new hitting coach. Last night, at one point, we were being out-hit by AU 13-4. And that was our Friday starter.
The errors are killing us. Hard to believe we are actually a better hitting team (average-wise), scoring team (runs per game) and pitching wise (ERA-wise as well as batting-avg against) than last year at this point in the season. Errors have doomed us in close games this year.

His current squad is just 21-16 (7-6) this season in a MUCH weaker conference. McDonnell is a good coach, and yes, I am quite aware he has done what Bianco hasn't (OMAHA). Not saying he wouldn't be a good/great fit if Ole Miss ever parts ways with Mike, but he isn't the messiah of Ole Miss baseball that many make him out to be.rebinark1 wrote:Our best baseball coach and recruiter is now at Louisville. We haven't been the same since he left.
As to your comment "we haven't been the same", with McDonnell on staff, Ole Miss won 2 regionals out of 5 appearences (01, 03, 04, 05, 06) and of course 0-2 in Super appearences (05, 06); without McDonnell, Ole Miss has won 2 regionals and has been 0-2 in Supers. So basically the same results.

I wouldn't blame our "unsuccess" on McDonnell leaving. Bianco has simply not put a complete team together, or complete season, whichever makes you feel better. We've had pretty good teams over the years, but just can't get over that Super Regional hump, sometimes regional. Not saying this year, but when he does get past the supers, I think it will be a BIG confidence booster for the whole baseball program. The kids will see we CAN get there and will have that belief the whole season.
Jrebel87....We simply do not have a good team. That has been determined for a while now.

Look at ,the difference in the talent level since he left. We always had good players sprinkled among great players, and top notch pitching. Now we're middle of the pack. If we could get the talent in the past, what changed? Who is Mossberg going to get to come to Oxford? Bianco exacerbates the problem with some of the worst in game decisions that can be made.I've loved Ole Miss all my life, but since the Pete Boone era began, we're not the same school. If he has his way we won't ever be again.
Our talent level isn't much different than it was with McDonnell. We have good players but they just don't produce like they should for whatever reason you want to put on it. There was nothing different in our outcome with or without him, we still havn't been to Omaha. I could care less if we hit for .360 and 60 homeruns....as long as we win games, and right now I'm starting to believe hitting isn't the biggest problem.rebinark1 wrote:Look at ,the difference in the talent level since he left. On another note, I agree with th Bianco and brick-headed decisions in games that ultimately, IMO, lead to losses. I've said that for years. Also, Boone really is driving our athletic program in the ground. I just hope someone else realizes it before it gets too bad.
Actually, Ole Miss football, basketball and baseball combined has a losing record since 1970. However, since Pete Boon was rehired as AD after John Schaffer, we have had our most success in all three sports. He may be a tightwad who wants to rid us of negative stigmas, but he aslo produces more winning programs.rebinark1 wrote:Look at ,the difference in the talent level since he left.
