Don't think anyone is seriously talking about Coach Brewer. But I'd take Tubby back in a hot minute.jrebel87 wrote:Didn't billy brewer cause us to be put on probation? If were talking about hiring brewer back, I would much rather talk about hiring tommy tuberville back, because he has about as much of a chance of being hired as brewer does. Neither are the answer.

assume that would be lowered if he takes another job, that's pretty standard. But why should he, when he gets paid almost as much to not work?)
This is one of my pet peeves, when coaches get canned and take all the heat while the administrators who hired them not only keep their jobs, but are entrusted with finding the coach's replacement! You think if I made a $6 million mistake I would still have a job tomorrow?
For the record, I supported the Nutt hiring. I know people from Arkansas who told me what an idiot he is, but I thought he was a good coach. I was wrong. But it's not my job to be right. It is Pete Boone's, and he failed miserably. Twice. So, hey, let's give him a third shot
Established head coach, hot assistant, up and comer from the lower ranks ... I don't think you should
pigeonhole where the next guy comes from. You can strike gold from any source. I don't think Pete
Boone can, though.

He'd never come because Pete Boone is still here. That's the reason Tubby left in the first place...Sasquatch wrote:Don't think anyone is seriously talking about Coach Brewer. Maybe we could bring Steve Sloan out of retirement to finish the season. Now to be serious i wonder if there would be any chance of Kent Austin coming back. I always felt that Nutt was holding him back and never let him open it up like he would have if given the chance.

Kent is a Rebel! He would come back as head coach if Boone was out of the picture!TNRebel wrote:Maybe we could bring Steve Sloan out of retirement to finish the season. heard state's changing field to turf next year. cheerleaders kept eating the grass
Kent isn't HC material in my opinion...he might be a bit to cerebral for us anyway.proud2breb wrote:Kent is a Rebel! Kent's still young, I'd take him as assistant HC/offensive coordinator.

I appreciate why y'all are so gung-garden tool for a person with Ole Miss ties to be the next HC, but come on, guys--we need the best man for the job. I don't care if he used to play for LSU or State--I want someone who's gonna take us from the bottom and make us something. I think y'all are narrowing the selection by only wanting a "Rebel" to be the coach.
I couldn't agree more. I'd love for Austin to come back as Assistant HC/OC, but I think he's just too much of a gamble for HC. We've got to hit one out of the park with this hire.bigtreydaddy wrote:I appreciate why y'all are so gung-garden tool for a person with Ole Miss ties to be the next HC, but come on, guys--we need the best man for the job.
