Yet another Razorback fan here, and yes, as the others say, I come in peace. I'm sorry, I just have to add my comments about this 2006 season you guys keep referencing. The only reason we had this season was because Gus Malzahn was our OC. If you go back and look at that season, Malzahn instituted the "Wildcat" formation with Darren McFadden which was subsequently changed to the "Wild Hog" in 2007. Even though Nutt started taking away offensive control from Gus later in the season because he couldn't understand what he had, overall Gus was a major influence on that team. So what happened after he ran Gus off? We have the same talent return in 2007 and go 8-4. We had Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis starting on that team, and we went 8-4. Why? Because he had no idea how to continue to adapt the offense to suit that talent. I saw one sarcastic comment on this board about the "Wild Rebel." It just proves that he's not creative at all! He's reusing a specific offense someone else created 5 years ago. I could go on about the lack of character the man has (trust me, what he did to Malzahn and his family is inexcusable and just plain sad), but I'll leave that alone. But please don't look at our 2006 season and think Nutt was the mastermind behind it.

Lastly, I applaud you all for conceding the fact that we lost in 2008-09 because we had mostly Nutt's leftovers and you all did well with Orgeron's players. Classic Nutt (see: Arkansas 1998-1999). Fire this clown and his staff and hire a good coach. You deserve it. Hey - Malzahn's available!

Thank you for your insight. Enjoy the weekend if you'll be attending.

I'm going to take the concessions a step further. With hindsight being 20/20, a lot of the Hogs fans who came on here back then were right. We just didn't want to hear it then because we felt it was a good move and after those two good seasons we thought both schools had done the right thing. Now it's obvious Ole Miss didn't make the right move, BUT Nutt's tenure here definitely did some good for us as I believe if Boone goes the next hire is going to be top caliber. He's always been good as a transition coach..unfortunately transition was 10 years up there and hopefully only 4 down in Oxford.

Basically we just don't like trolling, 8 win season or 8 loss season.

Solid post.

Here's the one thing that gnawed on me since the Houston Nutt announcement on day one.

He had 3 backs that went on to start in the NFL the following year. McFadden, Jones, and I don't remember the fullback's name. The best Nutt could do, was win 7 games - with that kind of backfield. That should have been a 10 win season for even a halfway decent coach.

I knew that we had never had a backfield like that, and likely never would. Few have. And Nutt still couldn't have an outstanding season - with what was basically an NFL backfield?

I knew we were in trouble, and I knew it was going to come back on us, but like the guy with a mailbox full of overdue bills, it was just easier to ignore it.

Until now. The bill collector is knocking on the door now. I just wish he would've come a year ago.

You were right Hog fan. I secretly hope that on Saturday, you give us another notch in our "fire Nutt" belt.

Wow! I don't know another Rebel fan that knows that much about Arky's final season under Nutt! Though you did beat the national champoins that year.

Pay more attention. I'm sure that the only one here that is surprised to hear how Nutt flubbed his last at Arky, is you.
I'm not surprised, we're cool. I just couldn't have named more than 2 people Nutt coached that went to the NFL the year after he left.

Respectfully, McFadden was on the Heisman stage - twice. Felix Jones is a starter for the Dallas Cowboys, and they also had a bad ass fullback that went on to start during his rookie season for Denver.

It wasn't exactly a secret that it was the hottest backfield in college football.

Glad we're all good. Just want Nutt gone as much as the next guy!

Nutt was proud of his backs! I'm sure Nutt is proud to say that he coached both Dexter and Ben Jarvis (as they are playing in the NFL).... even though he didn't recruit either of them.

I think Nutt would make a good RB coach somewhere. We should have been like wisconsin last year with 4 all-SEC players in the backfield. He always seems to have a good RB though...thats about the only thing he does consistently
