Arky had an SEC QB last year and we had a worse pass defense than this year's yet they didn't score half a hundred then (even though they had Knile Davis who had a career day to compliment that SEC QB) and I don't think they do now. We'll see come Saturday.Rebchuck18 wrote:Because of arkys defense, we may look better than we actually are in this game. I personally think this guy is better than Mallett and I said they "may" score 50. If we could keep them in the 20s it might be a ballgame, just not real confident we can.JustBlues wrote:Arky had an SEC QB last year and we had a worse pass defense than this year's yet they didn't score half a hundred then (even though they had Knile Davis who had a career day to compliment that SEC QB) and I don't think they do now. This guy is better than Mallet was at the same point in his career. This guy now is not better than Mallet last year at this point in the season. At least that's my opinion for what it's worth.Rebchuck18 wrote:I personally think this guy is better than Mallett and I said they "may" score 50. Yea their qb ratings are close. Wilson will probably have less tds than mallet but also less interceptions. He just appears to not make some of the careless throws that mallet made but believe me I would take either one 8)JustBlues wrote:This guy is better than Mallet was at the same point in his career. They are different if that make much sense considering they are both pro style qb's. Mallett was obviously more seasoned than TW and had a stronger arm (not much though). Tyler is a natural QB. He's instictual and just very smooth at times. He's just not as experienced (pointed out correctly in an above post) and it shows sometimes. There's a reason Mallett started last year and there's a reason we really like TW now. TW can definitely move a lot better than Mallett. Which, is probably the most obvious difference.Rebchuck18 wrote:Yea their qb ratings are close. Wilson will probably have less tds than mallet but also less interceptions. I obviously havent watched them as closely as you but this guy looks smarter to me than mallett (in a football sense)spudhog wrote:

What you talking about. Home field definately gives us an edge. We'd have lost by at least 80 pts in T-town!Joe wrote:I'd like to think the home field gives us an edge. Then I remember last Saturday. Maybe not so much.
I'm going out on a limb, and say we lose - but we at least keep it close.
We lose by 8.

Dark humor. Noted, and appreciated.
Mallett wasn't the best of "interviews". But, if you watched that John Gruden show. He knew a lot more about football than the rest of those characters did. Doesn't mean he's the best QB of all of them but he knows his football.Rebchuck18 wrote:I obviously havent watched them as closely as you but this guy looks smarter to me than mallett (in a football sense)spudhog wrote:

I think TW is safer than Mallett at this age. Meaning, Mallett had that rocket arm he trusted live or die. TW isn't quite as cavalier with his arm (which is nothing to laugh at). So, that may come off more intelligent sometimes. He's only getting better which makes it fun to watch.

Arkansas has a very good pass game, but they have benefitted from facing some absolutely abysmal pass defenses. They have only faced one good pass defense. Now, our pass defense is better than last year's, but I wouldn't rate it as "good". However, it is probably better than most of the ones Arkansas has played. They will gain some serious yardage on us but it won't be the blowout that some here are predicting.
