Brando said the same thing last week. It seems the media is pulling for Houston to live thru this. This could make his firing the same media pc problem as Cut. Now Brando did say, about 3 weeks ago, we need to rid ourselves of the people who fired cut and hired o caues those people have no credibility to hire. He may as well come out and said Boone's name with that statement. So here we are with a pc problem. Get rid of Boone first is still what I say.

11 SEC losses in a row....what other team in the SEC would have waited this long. If we are going to let Tim Brando and Brian Griese dictate our personnel moves, then we are toast.bbqit wrote:proud2breb wrote: And we heard ESPN say we'd be stupid to get rid if Houston.

I can take one more year of Houston if it means Boone is gone this year!proud2breb wrote:And we heard ESPN say we'd be stupid to get rid if Houston.rebelbear wrote:And I also heard today that after taking Ole Miss to back to back Cotton Bowls (first time in 50 years) that we would lose 11 straight in the SEC...only difference is mine is true.

Couldn't disagree more...the immediate destructive force for our football program, the most important program of all, is Houston Nutt. Take the hiring responsibility away from Boone, find another AD before we make the new HC hire, but fire Nutt now so that some true quarterback sitting at home in Texas right now (or some other state where high schools still have real quarterbacks) will know that Ole Miss will no longer be coached by a QB killer. That should be priority number one so we can get Brassel, Moncrief, Singleton, etc. a QB who can get them the d*** ball consistently and utilize their talents.

I am not convinced anything will happen. But if it does, it is likely Nutt gone AFTER the season and Boone making the hire. THAT is frightening. Just saying that if I have to choose between the two, then it would be Boone gone and everything else will take care of itself. You are assuming the hiring responsibility will be taken away from Boone, but then what do I know?Rebchuck18 wrote:Couldn't disagree more...the immediate destructive force for our football program, the most important program of all, is Houston Nutt. My question: if Nutt goes and Boone stays, how much pressure is Boone under to make a "home run" hire? If he makes a bargain-basement hire, I'd wager that the monied alums will stop writing the fat checks, season ticket sales will drop like a rock, and the new capital campaign (which I think Boone sees as his "legacy" at Ole Miss) will come to a screeching halt.
Maybe Boone will announce his resignation right before doing Hotty Toddy on the jumbotron before LSU. Nutt will probably start firing assistants in the upcoming weeks, hire the biggest stud HS coach in the state to get some of his recruits; oh, wait, that was happened with him and Malzahn. Several of the Auburn players were AR kids that wouldn't play for Nutt. Either way I think we've already lost the recruiting war for next year. If we forefeited, wouldn't we only be losing by 2? Something to think about..
It's a shame to be so excited about who the next coach will be when we still have several games to be played... Is there any one game left that will break the proverbial camel's back? Kentucky, La Tech or State? I don't see us winning any of those games right now.

Don't limit yourself before you begin. It's best fit for our program. Some of both, proven and upandcoming, can fit but the right fit is most important.
Let me first say that I have little to no idea about the in's and out's of running a D-1 athletic program, but, might I play devils advocate for a sec?
It seems that it is widely known that our current coaches across the board do not necessarily enjoy working for Boone. Some are, at least in relative terms (Kennedy), and real terms (Bianco) considered to be deemed "successful" despite their apparent distaste for their boss.
As far as Nutt goes, I didn't want him, but was willing to concede that at least for the first time since I have been a Rebel, the administration ponied up to hire what was a proven SEC winner. In his first season, I had to eat a bit of crow. In his second season, I was allowed to push away from the table, refusing to eat the a fore mentioned crow. In the last two seasons...
That said, this that we are experiencing at Ole Miss is not indicative of Nutt's overall throughout his career. Like him, or hate him, he's mostly won.
This brings me to this. In my current job, myself as well as my constitutes feel very strongly that our leadership is sub par and as a direct result our performance is not what it should be. Morale is lacking. We spin our wheels just do deliver a passable job.
So this makes me wonder/think that if Boone goes now, does Bianco feel better in his situation and end up as a perennial visitor in Omaha? Does Kennedy make the field of 64? Does Nutt resume his winning way?
Again, I have no clue about the inner workings here, but, I do know that attitude and such often reflects leadership.
So for those reasons, I will take Nutt & co. for another season if Boone is shown the door first.
