And he's near the bottom of my list. Just putting his loss to us in perspective. I honestly think we were the 3rd or 4th best team in the country when we played that game. But his losses were defensive losses for the most part, so with a real DC, he could be hard to beat.
I endorse this post, and everyone knows.......

I understand the thinking behind "we need an NFL guy" but.....Spurrier was phenomenal at Florida and not so much in the NFL, Saban has been successful basically everywhere he has been and not so much in the NFL. Maybe an NFL type of guy that will prepare and develop these athletes, maybe run a pro style offense, etc.... but just because someone has had success in the NFL does not mean he will be successfull at the college level (see Dave Wannstedt).....and vice versa.

I would be very interested in one available NFL guy, but I don't think he is leaving the ESPN Monday night booth any time soon.

Especially after signing a 5 year contract extension 3 weeks ago.

I'll take the Baltimore Raven's defensive coordinator if we hire Leach. Then we've got both.

Then Ray Lewis could come on over in a few years to coach the Linebackers, Ed Reed to coach our secondary...

Give me Ray.. I like the speeches and the fear factor that at any moment he could just lose his mind and start killing people.

All kidding aside I agree Leach has had success and is a great offensive mind. I also believe in the mantra that a person is promoted to their level of incompetency. I think Leach would be a great OC some where but there is a lot more to being a good head coach than just winning (although that is the #1 thing). It has been two seasons that Leach has been seating on the bench looking for a program to lead and has not had any takers. Other programs have looked closely at him and moved on to other coaches and Ole Miss had better ask why. His inability to take responsibility for his actions that got him fired and failure to apologize for those actions leads to questions of character. I had never paid much attention to his situation ( him being outside of the SEC) until now and He gives his account of what happened in the following article:

http://bleacherreport.com/tb/bbY92

I found the following article of Ron Caldwell in the Desoto Times had some valid points in what the committee should be looking for in Nutt's replacement.

http://www.desototimes.com/articles/201 ... xt#comment

Lets hope they make the correct decision so this topic is not revisited again in four years.

Leach to Ole Miss or no Leach to Ole Miss that ariticle is not exactly right about how and what actually happened with the James boy. I wouldn't have apologized either. The James gang is soccer mom divas to the max.

Just saw an updated list and Rich Rodriguez has been added and Charlie Strong has been taken off.
