That depends on how you define "success". Kentucky was 12-11 in the two year period when Leach was an assistant there. They were 6-10 against SEC teams in those two years. Their best finish was fourth in the SEC east. That's not the kind of success I want to see.RPD_R38 wrote:He has had success in the sec, along with a hiesman runner up, Tim Couch! Leach says

One of the problems with Leach is that we would not be able to have an SEC caliber DC with him here. SEC caliber DCs know that pass first offenses leave the defense on the field too long. That is a concern anywhere, but especially here where we cannot field the depth needed to sustain a defense that spends most of their time on the field.CMB wrote:I don't think I would have a problem with Leach as long as we had a SEC caliber defensive coordinator. My worry is that he would be a quick fix and that his system would be picked up on by other SEC defenses and would not work long term but.....maybe he would be innovative enough to change things up and keep it fresh and keep defenses guessing - not just game after game, year after year.
Well let's see, prev years they were getting 3 wins period! I'd say with enough time to get what he needs everyone would be impressed. Hell we have some talent now, it's just not being utilized. His scheme with our wr's and Jeff Scott would work well IMO.JustBlues wrote:That depends on how you define "success". Kentucky was 12-11 in the two year period when Leach was an assistant there. and the year before Nutt went to Arkansas, they only won four games. The year before Nutt came to Ole Miss, we only won three games.RPD_R38 wrote:Well let's see, prev years they were getting 3 wins period! The bad thing about all this is there is no way he comes here with a pending lawsuit ... Bummer

Then Archie Manning obviously isn't your Santa. That said, I certainly hope Rich Rid isn't a serious candidate.Rebchuck18 wrote:I just spoke to Santa and he said that Rich Rod is not on his good list 8)bbqit wrote:Santa's list

I agree that I think the pending lawsuit pretty much takes him out of the equation. I am not sure that is a bad thing. If you look back to his time at TT he flirted with other jobs regularly and he held the possibility of him leaving for another job over the heads of the TT administration. Sound familiar?AtlantaRebels wrote:The bad thing about all this is there is no way he comes here with a pending lawsuit ... Bummer

I would be shocked if Leach were under serious consideration for this job.

Not saying he would, just saying Rich Rod most definately isn't on Archie's "naughty list".Rebchuck18 wrote:Archie wouldn't do that to me 8)
I feel like the committee will be looking "outside the box" and "Captain Morgan" doesnt fit the mold...I am always amazed to see people flock to these coaches with high octane offenses. Do we not all see that its DEFENSE that wins SEC games and National Titles?

I will disagree a little.Rebel PT2 wrote:I feel like the committee will be looking "outside the box" and "Captain Morgan" doesnt fit the mold...I am always amazed to see people flock to these coaches with high octane offenses. Cam Newton and Dyer won it for Auburn last year, against an offensive minded team. Tebow the years before, and Ingram the year before that.
We don't have the recruiting talent to win a championship with defense...

Nor on offense either at this point. At least not at the O-Line or QB positions.carl winslow wrote:I will disagree a little.Rebel PT2 wrote:I feel like the committee will be looking "outside the box" and "Captain Morgan" doesnt fit the mold...I am always amazed to see people flock to these coaches with high octane offenses. I remember at time, not long ago, that we averaged 30+ points a game and still got our tails handed to us regularly. We need a foundation to build around. Defense keeps you in games. We just gave up 27 to LA Tech.....As for Tebow, Newton, and Ingram are individual talents. They are players that make offensive coaches look good. After the exhibition we put on tonight, im not sure where you begin?
