Me either. That is why I posted it in the first place.

I tell you who went up a few notches on my list today.....Gary Patterson. He put those smurfs in their place. And he seems to coach his quarterbacks up pretty well.

Think we could get Patterson? I mean, why would he leave TCU who will be joining Big 12 next year, a BCS conference? In the Big 12, he can get to NC and not have to go through the teams that he would in the SEC. I think we would have to pay him loooooooots of $$$$ to move to Oxford. With that said though, I would love to have him!

I don't know. I actually like Forth Worth (probably second to Austin for my favorite Texas cities). I can't remember what he makes. TCU's facilities are okay, their support is okay, but neither at SEC level. SO who knows.

When I was a kid my first college basketball game was TCU@UNLV. Tark the Shark's home opener of his last season. Fun times. Even as a 6 year old I remember having serious respect for TCU. Granted that was basketball. UNLV barely beat them and were coming off of their legendary seasons.

Now they're pretty good all around, their football program has moved into a somewhat respectable conference, they've done very well playing step brother to UT and TAMU. They're a step above UH and UTEP, but not quite SEC talent.

If my memory serves me correctly, the horned frogs have not made a football coaching change since being in the MWC. If their MWC head coach is still the head coach and saw them through another conference upgrade, MAYBE his staff or he himself is worth looking at. Those types of things indicate success in programs that don't get the national title contention on a yearly basis.

I have a crazy gut feeling whoever we hire it's going to be our next Vaught. Call me crazy, or call me out in 3 years next coaching change.
I'm leaving it in the upper guys hands that are chosen to pick the right coach. I am still thinking they go with no one that is on our list...

Exactly.....If they hire someone on the "list" why did we need them to hire....I hope our next coach will be someone not on the radar but when hired we will all say.. WOW!

Guys.....I'm pretty close to the ULL program.....and I can tell you this....Hudspeth is the real deal.....he's a high motor highly motivating guy....and I mean from football team to fans to ad, he's a great offensive minded coach. In my opinion he is going to be a very very good head coach somewhere.....I would just hate to lose him here, but in reality I think we all know he will not be here long! My only advice would be....hire hudspeth and then get a top d-cordinator type, and you would be well off.

82nd rush offense in the nation with an average of 133 yds per game? and that isn't even against SEC defenses. No thanks.

With the talent he is working with.....he is doing very very well!! Put it to you this way.....not ONE kid on the ULL roster would OLE Miss have tried to recruit!! Keep in mind that the ULL program hasn't been to a bowl game in ....forever!! They were also picked to only win two games this year by the pundits. But believe me I would be most gratefull if he is able to stay at ULL.

well, let's wait and see if he can recruit better talent before we consider him then. Maybe next coaching change.

The two most important things for a head coach in the SEC to do well is recruit and hire top coordinators. We need to hire someone who has shown that they can recruit in a competitive market and looks like they have the contacts and the sense to hire the best coordinators and assistants we can afford. Hiring a coach for the style of offense he runs or his x and o prowess will result in failure unless we just happen to get lucky. Of course, we want a coach who can do all three, but the most important are ability to recruit and hire the right assistants.

I also think that, if possible, we need a splash...something to really turn some heads (AS LONG AS THEY ALSO HAVE GOOD CREDENTIALS AS A COORDINATOR AND/OR HEAD COACH)...

I think Sumlin fits that bill and a couple of others could also. If it is a Hudspeth/Freeze type hire I think it will be more like the question "If a tree falls in the forest......."

Would be nice, and I never say never, but Patterson is not going anywhere, he and his family are right were they want to be and will stay for as long as TCU will allow him.
