I will disagree a little.

Cam Newton and Dyer won it for Auburn last year, against an offensive minded team. Tebow the years before, and Ingram the year before that.

We don't have the recruiting talent to win a championship with defense...
Nor on offense either at this point. At least not at the O-Line or QB positions.
Which is exactly why we will have to pull in an offensive system much like Leach's 'pistols-a-blazin' system........Leach is an OPTION for this position.

We just gave up 27 to LA Tech.....As for Tebow, Newton, and Ingram are individual talents. They are players that make offensive coaches look good. After the exhibition we put on tonight, im not sure where you begin?
We gave up 13. Their defense TOOK 14. And 3 of the thirteen came because our coaches let our players go on the field with 43 seconds before half, thinking Tech was as happy with the score as our coaches were.

With that said, I want Leach. Period. Nutt came here for money. Leach would come here to win a BCS bowl. No stage fright. No rookie mistakes. No problem hiring assistants. Who does Freeze convince to come on board? Does he bring ASU posse and get them triple there current salary?

Well the idiots at AM 560 this morning...idiot being George Lapidis (sp) said the move was to start the short list of interviews at season end and to have a head coach prior to the AD being hired AND to have the head coach in asap to salvage recruiting. Also this was a bit of a gamble because the new head coach won't exactly know who his boss is. True. Also that Archie had eluded to available coaches (those not currently employed) being not high on the interview list i.e. rich rod and leach. Take it for what it's worth.

For the record it's just fine with me if Kent Austin, Rich Rod, and Leach are NOT high on the list. I think all of these guys for various reasons are a poor fit for Ole Miss.

I understand them taking their time wanting to be sure they have the right man but if we wait too long then either we lose our choice or the price went up. We won't be the only BCS University looking for a coach this year. Penn St, Ohio St, Arizona, Ucla, Texas, Texas A&M are universities that will be or quite possibly will be looking for a coach. Have ours in place before the new coach can say one of them called him.

Even if they were already in discussions with coaches who currently have jobs, we would not hear about it until their season is over. For instance say they are going after Kevin Sumlin (just as an example), say they make an offer to him...his team still has a legitimate shot at a BCS Bowl so I wouldn't expect him to allow an announcement until after the regular season (basically two weeks). So we are just going to have to be patient, as excruciating as that is, for just a little bit.

You can't have the paper work done and signed without interviews with the coach and you can't have interviews with the coach without the world finding out. For now, the committee will be talking to agents and gauging interest. They will have a good idea who they are getting and have a tentative agreement (tentative among other things on a meeting with the coach) with the agent before the season ends but there will be no paperwork signed or actual meeting with the coach (unless he is currently jobless) until the season ends.

Bingo, if the committee decides on a current HC/OC/DC, the best we can probably hope for is to have someone verbally in place by the end of the first week in December. Depending on who and what their situation is, it could be as late as early/mid January before they take over the reins completely.

I'm ready for baseless rumours to start.

They don't have to tell me until they are ready. Yes I will be complaining and nervous but I would rather them get it done early as possible. I will get wired come spring ball.

I don't really get this.

Penn St is a train wreck and will not in looney green hell be hiring anyone with a pedigree for as long as this story unfolds, and unfolds, and unfolds.

I spoke with an Ohio St grad with some connections just today, and he says that it's Meyer or bust, with the back up plan being Fickell.

If Texas or Texas A&M are even close to letting their head men go....give me either one of their guys! Mack Brown especially.

Our only real competition is UCLA, Arizona, and UNC. Which probably puts us at fourth in the "best coaching jobs to be had" list. That doesn't seem to be too bad to me. We have some time to get this as close to 100% as possible.

What you wrote puts another mark up for Leach as well.
