I hate to say it... but

Am I the only person that realizes the ship fell apart when Nutt refused to Listen to Austin??? No way he goes to Cornell without Nutt pushing. Or am I way off base. We need Austin on staff. Maybe not as HC, but Id rather have them than the flavor of the month.

IMO we need no one from Nutt's staff past or present near our team...
Let's rebuild from scratch.

makes you wonder if Kent was butting heads with Nutt. I always felt like Nutt was holding him back and not letting him run the offense that Kent wanted to run. This is the first year that Nutt hasn't called the plays and i'm still not sure he isn'tcarl winslow wrote:IMO we need no one from Nutt's staff past or present near our team...

It was pretty well known that they werent seeing eye to eye. To say that you don't want one of the most prolific passers at Ole Miss and the OC that was successful here under Nutt is a little crazy IMO. There are 2 common threads that hurt us after that season. The loss of Austin and Tracy Rocker!TNRebel wrote:makes you wonder if Kent was butting heads with Nutt. i totally agree. Nutt never let Kent unbridle the offense. Nutt wanted to run the ball and we never had the horses at tailback to run the ball like he did at ARK.JoeRebel wrote:It was pretty well known that they werent seeing eye to eye. This is correct. Seemed like Austin was the "other voice" that could perhaps provide a balance to the players/offense. HDN did the same thing after his first year at Ark. Got rid of QB Coach Joe Fergeson. Ferguson was a great Hog/Nfl player that knew the game very well. It was something swept under the rug when it happened but it was very similar to what happened at OM.JoeRebel wrote:Am I the only person that realizes the ship fell apart when Nutt refused to Listen to Austin??? What is happening at OM right now is all on Nutt and staff. It's unfortunate the fans/players are ones truly being punished by this. Tried watching the OM/Lsu game tonight and it was just brutal (couldn't imagine what it was like on your end). No one is listening to him in that locker room. I would never ask/encourage someone to quit/give up. I think OM would play a lot harder/better if he was asked not to show up this week to work.
I so agree!!!! Gunter Brewer should take over completely. Maybe he can get his dad to come in and tell the boys what it means to be a Rebel!!! Just don't let him get near any recruitsspudhog wrote:This is correct. Seemed like Austin was the "other voice" that could perhaps provide a balance to the players/offense. This wasn't the first year Nutt didn't call plays I assure you, he called well over 75% of these plays, especially after the Vandy games, he saw blood in the water and was doing everything he could to save his job, and I'm sure he took over complete play calling after that.
Pain Dont HURT!
Yeah they were right. I dont see why he is allowed to hang around to do as much damage as he possible can. You dont fire somebody and let them hang around the office for another 8 weeks. You can always tell when something is being run by a bunch of numnut government workers that never had to compete in the private sector
Anyone looked at Cornell's football site? Sounds like Cornell's Kent Austin coached QB has been putting up the numbers. I'm not screaming for him to be the next coach but i would love to see him back on staff as the OC. I know it isn't the SEC or anything close and without SEC caliber players Vince Lombardi wouldn't be successful. Unless we get a coach that can recruit we will never be anything but the doormat of the SEC.
Sophomore Jeff Mathews set numerous Cornell and Ivy League marks with his second consecutive record-breaking effort, completing 35-of-45 passes for 548 yards and five touchdowns to lead the offense. The Big Red signal caller established Ivy and Cornell records for passing yards in a game and posted new school and conference marks for passing yards in a season with his performance. Three of his receivers passed the 100-yard mark and a fourth finished with 91 receiving yards. Mathews found senior Shane Savage four three touchdowns, giving him a school record 12 on the year. Savage ended the day with seven catches for 149 yards,

Arkansas fans were right, yesterday was probably one of the lowest points I can remember for our football. LSU actually taking a knee was humiliating.
Austin is not the hot candidate. Im going to reserve my judgement for a while. I knew we were screwed when David Less got here. I just didn't think it was this bad!

Are you sure Boone didn't call plays from his luxury suite?
Austin isn't my pick for HC i will leave that up to Archie and crew. But i would love to see Austin back as the OC or QB coach. He has OM and Middle TN ties. I think he would be very helpful in bring in some quality QBs. we haven't had a QB on campus since Eli left and none that were recruited out of high school. You can't keep bringing in Juco and transfer QBs and changing the offense to match your personal and expect to win. You need consistency in the offense you run and kids that have 3 or 4 years to develop and learn the offense before you put them out there and put winning the games on their shoulders.JoeRebel wrote:Austin is not the hot candidate.
