Walker Jones according to fairly strong rumors. I always liked him as a player and announcer but people are accusing him of a GOB hire, well him and Freeze actually. My question is where is Forward Rebels going to stand in all of this? If they unleash the beast... Well what if they unleash the beast?

Sad to say but that beast has already been released, he will always be lurking waiting to pounce.

Im not sure I understand what the problem is. Anyone associated with the history of Ole Miss is going to be called a GoB and thats just not right. A GoB is someone that doesn't deserve their job. It appears to me that he has paid his dues.

I think the concern of some folks ( not me necessarily) may be that he would be a puppet. But any ad is to some degree a puppet of those who write the big checks. As I said I don't necessarily agree. But there is an awful lot about this whole process that seems like same old song...fifth or sixth verse. There was some hope that Archie's influence could bring some new faces and broader influences to the table. Didn't happen. It is what it is.

Not a fan of the GOB's, but isn't Walker the marketing director for Under Armour?

I think he did a pretty good job of that...

Don't know Walker personally, but if he can bring Ole Miss up as quickly as a no name company like Under Armour then I have his back...

I definitely understand the GOB reference though...

He was assistant AD under Boone until '08 I believe. So...if it is walker then we will have hired Orgeron's assistant as our new head coach and Boone's assistant as our new AD. Not sure we needed Archie's rolodex or a national search firm for either of those. Not flaming....just discussing rationally.

Archie seems to have been a pawn in all of this.

I agree there.

Still don't understand why we needed Archie besides the fact that Ole Miss fans will think Archie can do no wrong...

Expanded stadium, IPF, nicer facilities, etc. None of that would have happened without Archie...if this is in fact his choice and it turns out as bad as some think it will he has certainy earned the right to make a mistake and still be admired.

Look I hate the choice and think the whole "committe thing" might very well have been a ruse or a dog and pony show. But Archie has earned hs stature and earned the respect given to him....earned it....time and time again.

But God only made one perfect man....and none of us are him. We all make mistakes. His was probably accepting this gig. Think Freeze was probably the hire whether he was on the committee or not.

I agree it's sad that Archie is the face of these hires when there is soo much reeling from forward rebels us and everyone else... It seems everyone has put their smiley face on but I'll bet this guy has a very short leash in everyones mind... If he doesn't produce decently fast it gonna be he'll or high waters unfortunately... But I hope archie knows more than any of us and saw a golden boy coach who will bring us back to the glory days! After learning more about this guy he seems to have a lot of potential but we will see if he can get in the top 15 recruiting class again without a head coach of legendary recruiting status

Peyton and Walker are good friends. They went to football camps together and are family friends. Mr. Jones and Archie played together at Ole Miss.

Walkers wife is from Holmes County and I know she is ready to be out of Baltimore. The question is Walker going to leave a great job with great stock options to take on the political beast that Ole Miss is. I wouldn't but knowing Walker he may. Finding $500k jobs in Mississippi is not easy.

With that being said it is totally a GOB hire but as I have stated before if you don't have ties to the state no one that is qualified wants to move there. It's the number one issue for Mississippi

I personally would like to have someone with heavy AD experience from another school Big or Small. Just someone who has managed the whole department. We need a fundraiser type who can get the money and make sound decisions. That is why if we are going to go with an ex ole miss guy I would rather see Central Arkansas AD hired.
