One of the UGLIEST offensive showings I have ever watched. And its 4 min into the second half. Ugly by both teams but currently we are uglier. Down by 3.

Agreed, but Murph is having a heck of a game.

2 of 18 in three pointers......We are a very poor shooting team..... All anyone has to do is back the defense up and stop our inside game and we are beat......Terrible offensive game......

I don't ever want to use a ref as an excuse, especially in this case because we looked atrocious, but I don't understand how when Terrance gets knocked down with the ball in the first OT it's traveling while when the Auburn player falls over on his own out of bounds it's a foul on us (in the second OT with hardly any time left).

That being said, AK has seen all year we can't play against a zone, and has done nothing to correct it. He sees we are having shooting troubles, and it doesn't look like anything has been done to correct that. Our FT shooting as a team is horrible, and nothing has been done to correct that. These are things that aren't necessarily an easy fix but can be fixed with proper / frequent practice of certain fundamentals that we are not exhibiting in game time situations.

They (refs) let alot of calls go that game. I'm ok with as long as it is a 2 way street. I feel this game we just stunk it up and refs let them play. Not the refs fault we only had 30 points with 10 min to go.

First off, I haven't seen the game. Planned on watching it last night after balling but my buddy ruined the ending so I probably won't watch it.

However, the problem with zone is, like you said, we can't shoot. I've played and coached bball all my life and a good, quick passing team that can knock down open jumpers will trump zone every time. The real problem I have is the lack of pure shooters we've recruited and had on our team for Andy's entire tenure. You just can't convince me that you can't recruit some Midwestern, corn fed pure shooters, bring 'em to Oxford on a game weekend in the fall, let 'em watch the beauty pageant quality parade of young women single and available and they won't fall in love with the place. Mix in a couple of shooters and the athleticism that AK has assembled will shine because the floor will be some much bigger, extending space for the slashers and forwards to operate.

You also mentioned fundamentals..... the more I coach young players, the more I believe that fundamentals may be gone forever. Don't get me started. It seems no one wants to learn/acquire the skills necessary to play basketball anymore. Drives me nuts. Just like we always argue that we need more "football" players and less athletes, I feel the acquisition a few more "basketball" players would only be complimentary to the "athletes" we recruit and would allow everyone to shine a little more. It's called balance, and we don't have it.

My .02 - End rant.

Yeah, we we're blinded for a while about how bad our shooting actually was when we had Terrico and Chris holding it down for us on the perimeter. Although Terrance, Nick Williams, and somewhat Jarvis Summers have shown they can make some behind the arc this year, they just haven't been consistent enough. This is where I go back to talking about practice. One, or all three of them should be staying after practice for hours working on these shots, hitting them on the run, getting in each others faces while shooting, etc. Closest simulations to games as they can while getting to practice form the perimeter. Anyone can hit one in practice without any pressure on them..
