Know where you are coming from, but i dont care whether our Offense is horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, I will predict right now we want beat Bama next year.Rebchuck18 wrote:For us to win we need our offense to be vertical and not horizontal... any horizontal type of spread will be met by SEC defensive speed on the corners (just go back and look at the horizontal plays LSU and jefferson tried to run Monday night)...and we need our QB to distribute the ball to our play makers and not be THE play maker (except with his arm). If Wallace's skills can translate to the next level I believe he gives us the best chance to do that.
The one thing I like about what I have seen about Freeze's offense at Jonesboro was the pace...if we can press the action and go no huddle and if Wallace can get the ball downfield to our receivers we may see a significant improvement. That is my hope...that is I believe our only hope.

Agreed. But even though they and lsu are the kings of defense, many other SEC defenses have outside quickness on defense that makes the sideways offenses considerably less effective.rewalters wrote:Know where you are coming from, but i dont care whether our Offense is horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, I will predict right now we want beat Bama next year.Rebchuck18 wrote:For us to win we need our offense to be vertical and not horizontal... any horizontal type of spread will be met by SEC defensive speed on the corners (just go back and look at the horizontal plays LSU and jefferson tried to run Monday night)...and we need our QB to distribute the ball to our play makers and not be THE play maker (except with his arm). Smart horizontal (Brees) will ease up the pass rush off the ends and make vertical possible in cases where the rush is constantly closing in to fast to make the vertical plays. You just can't half ass it every third play like Nutt/Lee

Neither was the coach of Arkansas State, but at this point this is the best news I have had to hang my hat on and I am only expecting him to be a better choice than Brunetti or Mackey...not setting the bar real high there.[/quote]
You do realize that Bo Wallace originally signed with Arkansas State out of high school right? He was the 3rd string behind Ryan Aplin and Phillip Butterfield....now is that going to change your thoughts about him? It shouldn't...another nice pick up for Hugh Freeze!!

Of course I know that..but one can only assume that if he signed him this time, he actually intends to give him a shot to start. And I do realize that certain players develop later. Looks like Bo grew a little bit and really gained a lot of confidence in winning a national championship. In short, it would appear to me that "Bo knows quarterbacking"...and I have no doubt that Freeze is a decent man and a good guy as all the players have said. And I want him to succeed and I want him to sign the best players he can. And when he signs players that I think meet a standard that we need to compete in the SEC I congratulate him as I did with Ward and as I have with Wallace, and that is why I had some questions (not criticisms just questions) on Conyers. None of us know if these guys will pan out, but I hope Bo does. I think that will be key to Freeze's, and more importantly Ole Miss', success.hubnub wrote: You do realize that Bo Wallace originally signed with Arkansas State out of high school right? If we know we aren't going to get Liggins sometime soon I'd like to see us make a push for Kanler Coker out of Flowery Branch, GA, who just switched commitments from ECU to UNC. He has a good, fast, throwing motion, decent size and mobility, and is a HS quarterback that we could develop. That being said, I don't see it happening, but I think he'd be a better pickup than what we're getting with CJ Beathard.
