I just want to say one more time...then I'm done: It will be very, very difficult, and we most likely will NOT find a coach that will win has much as AK does. Say whatever you want, but I don't think we will. This is a very unattractive program.

I agree with you. It is very unattractive. Our facilities are out-of-date. We have a plan in place to rectify that. My opinion is that a lot of coaches will look at Ole Miss and say, "Well they haven't been to the tourney in a long time, this will be a complete rebuilding situation." And they're probably right. We run a Kentucky style of basketball without Kentucky style players.
We can win in the SEC, but not with this style b/c Kentucky et al will always get those players. Again, VCU, Butler. Those kids were recruited by no one. But they've won... in the NCAA tournament. If it can be done at VCU, it can be done at Ole Miss. I know they play in a weaker conference, but the SEC was down this year. Only 4 teams got in.
I believe we can compete and no, Chucky, I'm not saying we can win the national championship every year, or even the SEC championship. But we can be competitive enough to make the tourney on a consistent basis(not every year). Like I've said before, once you're in, anything can happen.
You guys are OK with what's going on now, then fine. I'm not. Don't call me stupid b/c I think we can do better and you don't.

Ole Miss:
Lowest Mens Basketball budget of any BCS school...
Worst Basketball facility in the SEC and one of the worst for any major university in the nation.
These above are facts.....We have to have an administration and an AD that wants to put an emphasis on athletic performance and finance it accordingly. Until that is done we will not be able to attract a coach that can or will do any better.....Lets face it....Ole Miss has become the laughing stock of the SEC......It is past time to get Boone out and a new AD in place that will provide proper financing to the athletic departments and instill an attitude of we can and will do whatever it takes to field winning teams....And this is if Jones will allow the new AD to do this.......

I just looked at the operating budgets for athletics at the SEC schools.....Here is what I found: So as you can see, Ole Miss actually has one third the budget of Alabama anc considerably less than any other SEC school other than State and Vandy....We have to fund the athletic programs is we really want to compete with the big boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Alabama $130,542,153
2. Florida $117,104,407
3. Tennessee $115,729,599
4. LSU $111,030,795
5. Auburn $ 92,611,558
6. Georgia $ 89,735,934
7. Texas A&M $ 82,774,133
8. South Carolina $ 79,879,193
9. Kentucky $ 79,700,856
10. Arkansas $ 78,072,620
11. Missouri $ 61,052,303
12. Ole Miss $ 45,737,904
13. MSU $ 38,127,591
14. Vanderbilt Private (Not Posted) but lowest in the SEC.

I counter your negative attitude with a positive one.Chucky_38 wrote:I just want to say one more time...then I'm done: It will be very, very difficult, and we most likely will NOT find a coach that will win has much as AK does. If the search is conducted by a well respected, well connected, very strong AD (hopefully we hire one of those) and not by Archie and his merry band of "who is the best OM option, not the best NATIONAL option" idiots, we can and we WILL find a better option than AK.
You have an opinion, and I have an opinion. I guess that's where it stops. Although, my opinion is based on OM making a good to great AD hire. Which I admit, simply will not happen and we'll all be left scratching our heads once again.

Lol. You know what? I completely concur. I'm beat down man. I'm beat down by years of business as usual at Ole Miss and I only expect us to continue what has transpired my entire life. It is my firm belief that Ole Miss, even if led by Archie Manning at AD, will only continue to make small hires that can be controlled and will continue to allow clowns like Boone to move into another office and use the atheletic facilites like his own club while Walker Jones becomes the new AD. I'm just waiting to see this commitee announce him. Cause I just KNOW its coming.oxpatchreb wrote:I counter your negative attitude with a positive one.Chucky_38 wrote:I just want to say one more time...then I'm done: It will be very, very difficult, and we most likely will NOT find a coach that will win has much as AK does. I hear you. And the scenario you suggested is precisely what scares me. Should it happen, it will force me to become more and more vocal/aggressive/determined for change in the Ath Dept. Look, I'm not labeling you as a fan and I certainly understand the fact that you feel beat down, tired and unloved by Rebel Athletics, from top to bottom. I'm simply asking that people like yourself and others of similar mind set, not to interfere with those of us who still have some fight left in us. Neither side is better than the other, neither side is more right or more wrong than than the other. But in order for us to make/force changes, we need an unimpeded course. Which means that there doesn't need to be any public dissension in the fans ranks that the Admins can point to and say "SEE!!! Even you fans don't agree on what you want".Chucky_38 wrote:Lol. The more we argue about HOW to force change, the longer Boone and his idiocy remain. We should all, and I mean every single one of us, be emailing, calling, picketing, writing letters to the DM and CL, seding hand written letters to Jones and anyone else in the Lyceum, tossing flaming bags of poo at Boones front door, salting his front lawn and yes, we are at the point now where I would not oppose a freakin banner demanding that Boone walk right now.
We'll worry about AK, MB and HF and our future coaching and facilities decisions after we've accomplished the arduous and disgusting task of evacuating the puss filled, festering wound that is Pete Boone. At least we can agree on that.

Regardless of any weight to this, AK's teams have not been "Tournament teams." I don't mean because they haven't made the NCAA tournament! By "Tournament team", I mean a team that has the ability to put 3 to 4 consecutive wins against good competition! The nations top 50 - top 10 RPI teams! That is what it takes to get to the Sweet 16 and Elite eight respectively. Ok, we got 2 wins in the SEC tourney, and had a streak towards the end of the season. Whipidy do! Those were not against teams I'd write home about.

Outsider, experienced, fund raising background, works with a small budget at his current job, not affraid to fire coaches when they suck.
OUTSTANDING.

Not sure what you guys will think about this, but here goes...
Perhaps our new AD will breathe new life into our coaches as well. I mean, they've been suffocating under Boone's regime too. Perhaps AK and MB will now be able to attain to new heights not possible before? (Not including HF - 1st year here.)
It's obvious Boone held our programs back, we know that better than ever now. Maybe (hopefully) that is about to change.
