I haven't been this excited about Ole Miss football in many years. Congratulations to Coach Hugh Freeze and Staff and our players, who fought hard all season and earned a bowl bid and extra practices. We were so close to being an eight or nine-win team this year. Next year will be exciting with so much talent returning. It's also nice to shut Dan Mullen up. I am probably going to attend whatever bowl we go to. Hotty Toddy!
Agree. It's a good day to be a Rebel. The postgame radio show is reporting it will be the Compass Bowl in Birmingham, unlike other projections. It is apparently due to the customary order that we fill bowl slots. It doesn't matter.....We bowling.

I don't see how it can be the Compass Bowl. There aren't enough bowl-eligible SEC teams for the nine tie-ins. Either Alabama or Georgia will play in the NC game. That will leave eight teams to fill nine slots: the Sugar Bowl, the Capitol One Bowl, the Outback Bowl, the Cotton Bowl, the Gator Bowl, the Chick-Fil-a Bowl, the Music City Bowl, the Liberty Bowl and the Compass Bowl. I think the Compass Bowl gets last choice, but there won't be an SEC team available. We should get either the Music City or Liberty Bowl.
He has done a good job, not a great job but he has pleased me and I am not easy pleased. I expect much more next year though. It is good to have an actual COACH on the sidelines as opposed to whatever had been there. One thing that I have been happy with all year is the class that Coach Freeze has. I know it has to be tempting to say something back to mullet but Freeze wont do it. Not publicly anyway. Its nice to have a coach you can respect. That cant be said in many places these days, especially in stankville.

Good point. You won't hear Freeze saying things like, "I will never lose to Such and Such a School." It's arrogant and foolish. Jackie Sherrill said he would never lose to Ole Miss when he was hired, but he lost 6 of the 13 games he coached against Ole Miss. I also think most State fans who have any sense realize that Mullen is not going to lead them to the promised land. They were just soundly whipped by a team with 59 scholarship players.wpdrebel wrote:He has done a good job, not a great job but he has pleased me and I am not easy pleased. I dont completely understand it either, especially since the Compass Bowl's payout if lower, but according to the postgame show and an article I found on the Commercial Appeal website.....all things point to Birmingham. The article did say that unless the Reps for the Liberty could broker a deal, the Compass bowl picks before the Liberty this year. Apparently, the two bowls alternate picking order annually. That would leave the Liberty and Independence without SEC teams. I am unsure as to when the official invites will be issued, but Im ready to find out our destination.

Yeah, I did see where the Compass Bowl picked before the Liberty. Of course, either bowl would attract tons of Ole Miss fans after the two-year drought. It would not be a problem for me to drive either to Memphis or Birmingham from Oxford. I know the Liberty would kill to get Ole Miss, a bowl we have never lost in our rich bowl history. Legion Field is less appealing to me, but if that's it, then I know fans will show up in record numbers for that bowl. I was just thinking that the Music City Bowl might not want Vandy because of the lack of travel (money coming in) from Vandy fans. They might want to switch with the Compass Bowl or Liberty Bowl if that's allowed.
I never considered Birmingham, but that's one I can probably make it to. A little further than Nashville, but I can make it work.Titles 'R Us wrote:Yeah, I did see where the Compass Bowl picked before the Liberty. Yep. Legion Field is not exactly in a great neighborhood.
