I don't think it is right to "call out" any of our own because their opinion is different. Make opposing points until the cows come home but there is no need to call people out. That is NAFOOM type of stuff. Just my opinion.

My point is "our people" can't logically continue to support AK after tonight. "Our people" want Ole Miss to succeed, and tonight it was made obvious that AK can't make that happen.Rebchuck18 wrote:I don't think it is right to "call out" any of our own because their opinion is different. Incidentally, I've seen no one speak out in support of AK since the final buzzer.

I disagree... If you blindly follow a cause or in this case, a coach, calling everybody who disagrees with you "negative nellies", "non supportive fans", "bad fans", "having low basketball IQ", all while looking down from an ivory tower, you made your bed. Now lay on down and take a nap.. I have been a member of this board for over 8 years, and a lot of people have been called out for their much more mellow opinions. My original comment, which was directed @Rebelim, was in response to him constantly preaching that none of us support this team... I was letting him know that until a change comes, he is right. I will not support this team under A.K.'s leadership..
I just don't get where all the cheerleading is coming from. I agree, I am cool with RebJim having any opinion he wants... I just think after all the hell he has given some of us, he either needs to eat crow or dig further into this pit.. I have never personally attacked the guy, and will not.. That would be foolish, considering I don't know the guy from a hole in the wall.. He is a rebel.. We are all rebels, but this message board is full of opinions and sometimes pointed conversations.. Do we really have to go to whatever is before a G rating?
I am wrong everyday.. I try to own it when I am... If I don't, I am cool with being called out on it..
There have been times where I wanted A.K. and M.B. removed, but looking back, I feel outright foolish to put M.B. in the same breath as A.K. We just lost to literally one of the worst teams the SEC has seen in years! They have 6 players on scholarship and we can only muster a split with one of our most talented teams in years.. One of their players went to state on a band scholarship, having never played basketball until this year.. Pathetic...

What he saidjrebel87 wrote:But we shouldn't say "we told you so" to him. That would be childish . I respect Him because its easy to see how big of a fan he is and how bad he wants our basketball team to be successful.
What is the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. With the style of play anybody can beat OM on a given night just as OM can beat a lot of teams on any given night. Everybody should have been able to see OM wasn't that good even when they were 17-2. With what we have just witnessed I really hope nobody really believes that this team deserves or deserved to be in the NCAA tournament. They are a average team that won a few games they probably shouldn't have and it got them off to a decent conference start. I think most everbody knows how I feel about the style of play and the head coach. If you keep him you will get the same thing as in the past seven years. Maybe if he stays long enough the stars will line up and OM will make it to the tournament. It's not going to happen this year and if it ever does happen it will probably be the exception. If AK stays it says loud and clear the OM simply isn't interested in a basketball program and they don't want to spend the money on the buyout. That would be the only reason we wouldn't have a head coaching change. All in all it really doesn't suprise me. It is just the same ole song and dance, just a different year.

I would be impossible for the stars to align more than this year and yet here we are again, outside the candy store with our hands pressed against the glass, aching for a taste but unable to enter.55chevy wrote:Maybe if he stays long enough the stars will line up and OM will make it to the tournament.

My 'philosophy of sports,' which I have mentioned on this board before is simply this: I support Ole Miss from a standpoint of expectations, not limitations. That means that I expect us to succeed, especially now that our facilities are certainly SEC caliber (or will be when the new basketball arena is built). There's a percentage of Ole Miss people who start off their opinions about our program with, "We can't..."
I start off with, "We should..." We should expect a New Year's Day or BCS Bowl or playoff spot in football every year. We should expect to go to the NCAA Tournament in basketball every year. We should expect to host and win a regional in baseball every year--which puts us in the Supers every year, which gives us the greatest chance to go to Omaha often. Our head coaches should be hired with those expectations, not a 'this is the best we can do,' limitations-type attitude.
There is no reason Ole Miss cannot succeed in any sport, and that is not sunshine-pumping.

I almost agree with this but this year it almost happened. If you take two terrible losses that shouldn't have happened away we probably would be going. I don't think we are good enough but the SC and MSU losses probably did cost us a slot. I think most are realizing what a few have known for much of the season. This team isn't good enough to make the big boy tournament. I still think it is possible for OM to go the tourney with AK. Just not probable.RebnPhilly wrote:I would be impossible for the stars to align more than this year and yet here we are again, outside the candy store with our hands pressed against the glass, aching for a taste but unable to enter.55chevy wrote:Maybe if he stays long enough the stars will line up and OM will make it to the tournament.

I have mixed emotions at this point. Like all Rebel fans, I want Ole Miss in the big dance. My only fear is that would get AK an undeserved extension.
Our players deserve better! They need a coach whom they can respect and one that knows what is going on. This "I don't know what happened out there" attitude is crazy. Coach, YOU did not have your players prepared for this game.......
