I'm curious what others thing about this. I had 2 aggies and a TCU grad watching with me last night and none of us could believe that Matthews CAME BACK In the game after such obvious signs of a concussion. I'm no doctor and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night but I am amazed that the trainers let him go back in. Even the announcers were surprised after their discussion about his symptoms while the viewing audience got to watch him puke on the field for a while.
That said - Jordan will be playing on Sundays and is a great WR and I wish him well.

I saw that and I wasn't worried about the concussion... his head wasn't the problem... his head hit the turf but that turf is a lot softer than you realize...softer than real grass and dirt... the perfect playing surface for playing in socks like we used to as kids... now the lick he took to the upper abdomen had me worried...ruptured spleen or a lacerated liver...I will bet the farm he won't play next week.cajunrebel wrote:I'm curious what others thing about this. Vomiting is just one of the many signs of a concussion and doesn't usually happen seconds after. It was more than likely due to the actual hit in the abdomen.
Coupled with the fact that he had been in the locker room taking fluids for cramps and all that fluid just sitting there when Prewitt lit into him. I must admit though, I was/am a little surprised that he came back in the game so quickly.Rebel_Fire wrote:Vomiting is just one of the many signs of a concussion and doesn't usually happen seconds after. Ok, my thoughts. If I were his parents, I would be absolutely FURIOUS! No way, no how is a game more important than a young man's health. And if I were a Vandy recruits parent, I would have a long hard talk with Franklin about just what his priorities are.
From my perspective, he's aiming for bigger and better things by putting Jordan back in. He'll move on when the right school comes calling. That's the only rationale I can conceptualize for putting a puking player back in right away.
Must say, though, that Jordan has NFL written in BOLD letters all over him. What a player!
(And Vandy's goona whoop somebody they weren't expected to this year.)

Agree Bob that Matthews is a Sunday player. Not as sold on Vandy as you. But in the immortal words of that great modern philosopher, William Joel, you may be right... I may be crazy!

Unfortunately, I do not. I'd love to see it, though.
Way back when, my buddies and I bought Tickets to go see him in Memphis. Think it was the Glass Houses tour. And Rock 103 had him on the night before, and he said he hated the crowds he would get. He said it was always older men and women in suits and dresses, and he wanted the raucous young gruopies type of crowd. So we were like, hmmmm, because we had our (scold me if you want, I was just a teenager) quarter ounce ready to go.
And darn if he wasn't lying. We were surrounded by the exact crowd he mentioned. The show started, Joel was gettin' it, and we finally said heck with it, pulled out a big one and lit up. After about ten minutes of aroma, Joel came over to our side of the stage and pointed at us, gave a thumbs up, and I think just appreciated that we were enjoying the show.
True story.

Well, I used to be a Neuro ICU RN and have done many neuro assessments. After the hit, he got right up without any signs of confusion or disorientation. Matthews had the wherewithall to get up and go line up properly for the next play. Then, after the puking, they completed a neuro assessment on him on the sidelines prior to his returning to the game. So, I do not think he had a concussion. I think the vomiting was from a shoulder pad to his mid section, compliments of Cody Prewitt.
Yeah, I don't know what the fuss is about. I highly doubt they would've let him back out there if he had a concussion. That puke was purple. Like Gatorade purple. He loaded up when he went out with cramps.Heath wrote:Well, I used to be a Neuro ICU RN and have done many neuro assessments. I've had multiple sports related concussions. He didnt look to have one IMO. Vomiting usually occurs much later than initial contact. If had truly had a concussion theres no way he'd have made that catch 3 min later. Just from my experiences
