Watched replay of 7 OT game against Arky on ESPN Classic.... Man what I wouldn't give to have another big back like Stackhouse. I had almost forgotten what a stud he was!

I was exhausted and gutted after the game. But even in the moment of total dejection, I knew I had witnessed history.

After the third OT neither team could stop the other. There was holding, clips, etc. and nothing was called. I was ready for it to be over after the 5th OT. Totally exhausted.

Several pass interferences weren't called, but pretty dang exciting nonetheless.
I noticed that also along with some holding (both ways) - I think the refs didn't want to be part of the final outcome and were "letting them play". The one exception to "letting them play" is if Bama is involved then all calls Bama's way get called regardless, while calls against Bama are now "letting them play"! lolRebchuck18 wrote:Several pass interferences weren't called, but pretty dang exciting nonetheless.
Watched it again too. Game was tough on the eyes throughout regulation. Ole Miss had the better team that season. I was in college and sweated that game out in the dorm room. Still felt good to see Petty make that final tackle:) I've stopped to watch 2 games in the past month coached by HDN. The amount of foul ups/lack of having his team prepared screamed out in both games. ha

Not to defend the Reverend too much, but let's at least give him his due.spudhog wrote:Watched it again too. Game was tough on the eyes throughout regulation. At Ole Miss he took us to two Cotton Bowls and two 9 win seasons. And he recruited Denzel Nkemdiche which led directly to our top ten recruiting class of his brother Robert, Treadwell and Tunsil.
At Arkansaa he averaged 7.5 wins and went bowling 80% of the time. In the six years prior to his arrival, Arkansas averaged about 4.5 wins a season and went to one bowl game. In the six years since he left, Arkansas has averaged a little more than 6.5 wins and has gone bowling 50% of the time.
Not saying he should still be at either school. He shouldn't. At Ole Miss he got lazy and shifted the program into reverse while in drive looking for a shortcut when he brought in Masoli and totally derailed any team development on offense.
But he did bring both programs some success that neither his predecessors or successors have yet matched consistently. I think Freeze will at least match it this year, and Petrino would have moved the program up a notch if he weren't such a trainwreck. But relatively speaking, Nutt had some success at both schools. But very glad he's gone.
We underachieved both 9 win seasons under nutt. We lost to state our 2nd 9 win season. *beep* nutt and the butt he rode in on. ask ANY arkie fan what they think of him. He's a joke. Look how long it took him to put Dex at RB.Rebchuck18 wrote:Not to defend the Reverend too much, but let's at least give him his due.spudhog wrote:Watched it again too. I agree and not trying to defend him at all. You know how much I cussed him those last two years. But I do think relative to when he was and where he was, he had some success. That's all. But glad he's gone.rebeljim wrote:We underachieved both 9 win seasons under nutt. I agree, he had some success. That statistics you quoted are a fair/valid. Definitely wasn't attempting to bring out the riot gear for this particular subject.ha. I have watched 2 of the games he coached and the mismanagement was horrendously laughable.
My rebuttal to your stats is this: Gene Chizik is a National Title Winning HC. Do I take that from him? No. But, there's not a soul on earth that believes he's a good HC

Agreed, but Cam Newton is an anomaly. And that was the only NC any coach won at Auburn in 50 years. But that is entirely too much time spent talking about Chizik or Nutt.spudhog wrote:I agree, he had some success. That statistics you quoted are a fair/valid.
