I'm a UT student hoping to come to Oxford for the first time October 18. Unfortunately, tickets through the school sold out before I could get them. I've been comparing prices, but after seeing face value they all seem outrageous :o I was wondering if it would be better to suck it up and pay $120 a ticket (I need two) or wait till we get there and buy some from a scalper. In Knoxville scalpers are everywhere and you can get great deals but I've never been to Oxford so I don't know. Help please! :D

$120 per ticket isn't bad for a sideline seat. You might get a cheaper ticket from a scalper but probably a poor view.

I have purchased tickets outside the stadium for both home games from the same man. I paid $80 for two to the LaLa game and $110 for two, face value, for the Memphis game for good west side seats on about the north 20 yard line in section H.

I asked him about the cost of tickets to Alabama, he just laughed and said that we could not discuss it out loud in front of people. He said that we would have to pull a "superman" and get into a phone booth to discuss it!

I imagine that Tennessee tickets will be available for either less or at most full face value of $75.00.

I know it's not a direct comparison, but Seat Geek is a pretty darned good indication for what people are paying right now. Seat geek searches all the suers including ebay.

It really comes down to supply & demand. I saw Memphis tickets on seat geek for about $50-$60 in section H, and plenty of $30-$40 tickets for La Laff.

The Tennessee sideline tickets are $140+ for end zone right now.

$240 minimum for Bama end zone seats, sidelines are $300 for the 10 yd line and more the closer you get to the 50!

I'm a UT fan also trying to find 2 tickets. I just checked stubhub and they are now $150. I'm thinking that if Ole Miss looses to BAMA and A&M (not that I want them to) :-) prices will drop some.

Thoughts?

Where are the best places to purchase near the stadium?

There are usually several people selling tickets at the shuttle drop off point at the northeast corner of the stadium. They are not shy and will announce in a loud voice that they want to buy tickets. They will also have several to sell.

Look at the ticket closely. The price of the ticket will be printed on it. If it says $0.00, then that it what it probably cost them or at most regular face value. These ticket sellers do not buy them at higher than printed cost. Many people get tickets due to various reasons such as being a Pharmacy grad with multiple FREE seats every year for being season tickets holders based on contributions. My daughter-in-law used to work for a pharmacist who bought 6 season tickets for over 20 years. He got 6 free ones too based on his contributions to the Athletic Foundation.

Players get free tickets for family and friends. Staff get free tickets for the same. Sometimes even regular season ticket holders will have "extra" due to someone not coming or whatever.

Just be careful and hesitant to pay large prices.

I'd say just go ahead drive down to Oxford...worst case scenario you end up spending the entire day in the Grove.

Thanks! So you are saying some tickets may have a 0.00 and those are GOOD tickets? Glad you mentioned that because i would have probably thought those were counterfeit....which is what I'm scared of. :-)

The "freebies" that are given out all have the price of $0.00 printed on them. If the ticket office is still open, you can take you ticket by there and they can verify that the ticket is real.

Be very careful of someone trying to sell you a full page copy of a ticket! Although the ticket office uses that to replace lost tickets, it is easy to do by anyone with a copier.
