Collegiate Baseball Tabs Rebel Class 15th in the Country

The Ole Miss baseball coaching staff was recognized for its hard work on the recruiting trail Monday, as Collegiate Baseball tabbed the Rebels' 2015 class No. 15 in the country.

The class, which features 18 newcomers, including a dozen freshmen and six transfers, will join 20 returners to make up the 2015 roster.

Of the 12 freshmen, there's one catcher (Nic Perkins), five infielders (Tate Blackman, Michael Fitzsimmons, Will Golsan, Joe Wainhouse and Kyle Watson) and six pitchers (Blake Bennett, Moises Castro, Brady Feigl, Calder Mikell, John Wesley Ray and Will Stokes). One of the junior transfers is an infielder (Jack Kaiser), three are outfielders (Connor Cloyd, Matt Martin and Josh Watkins) and two are pitchers (Sean Johnson and Drake Robison).

Eleven of head coach Mike Bianco's 14 recruiting classes at Ole Miss have been ranked in the top-20 of national rankings, including five that have placed in the top 10.

Fans will have a chance to watch the new Rebels and the returning Rebels on Friday and Saturday as the team plays its second weekend of intrasquad scrimmages. Ole Miss will play at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field on Friday at 2:45 p.m. and again Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Admission to all fall scrimmages is free.

Alabama and Georgia are not listed in the top 40. That is interesting.

15 is a little disappointing seeing as how we just went to Omaha. Did those two Dulin Dodger kids de-committing a while back affect this?

Still good, though. Just thought we might get it a little higher with the CWS appearance.

Alabama fans truly don't care about baseball or basketball as long as the football program is making noise. My favorite all-time quote from a 'Bama fan was on the radio after those tornadoes passed through Tuscaloosa a few years back. I was in Alabama that day, and the guy calls in and says in a tone of desperation: "Please tell me the stadium wasn't damaged!"

Well, after last Saturday's defeat, maybe they should look at other sports to cheer.

Baseball recruiting rankings are skewed and not very accurate. The individual players rank is contingent on which camps he went to. Ie if the player went to a PG showcase then PG will likely have him ranked higher than other outlets

Alabama fans don't care about any sport when they are losing! Remember the 7-6 season Saban's first year? Neither do Bama fans! They took that season off when it went on the tanker.
