So painful

I agree with everyone here. That loss was hard in more than one way . The key now is damage control . We can no longer win the west or make the playoff . We can only squeak by Arkansas and ruin states season . Both will be hard to do because we simply don't have the horses for it anymore but we need to find a way . Anything less than 10-2 is a disappointment .
I just can't let myself be disappointed... these kids have played their hearts out...our problem is O line... this is something we can fix and I think we are ahead of schedule...this is going to be a hard decision and I hate to say it butI think Matt Luke is the one who needs to start learning how to be a SEC championship caliber O line coach.jrebel87 wrote:I agree with everyone here. Who gives a crap what State does? They do not define our success/failure.jrebel87 wrote:If we finish 8-4 after a 7-0 start it will be a massive disappointment. Going to some crappy bowl while watching state hoist the sec championship trophy in route to the national championship is unacceptable .

I agree.. I have been hard on Bo at times, but he gave us everything he had last night.. The O-line had injuries, but that has been the weak link all year.. People will argue time and experience, but they can't have it both ways.. This O-line is the worst we have had under Freeze/Luke. We have one of the most talented tackles in the country. I know he was out last night, but I hope it was because he was injured, not hurt. This unit is probably bottom 3 in the conference. UT is bad, but they didn't return a single starter. I have talked to Luke and like the guy. He is a rebel, but he has to step his game up. It is more than just scheme. We are getting whipped in one on ones... I can't fault Freeze on play calls last night. Thought he called a pretty good game, all things considered, with the total lack of a run threat. Of course there is little things I think he would do differently. (Like the throw backs with 10 seconds) I said it in another thread and I will say it again.. You cannot win a championship at any level, if you cannot run the ball...
But it does , actually. The more success they have , the more it hurts us. They will bring in more in state recruits and have the bragging rights of winning 5 of 6 and it will turn into 6 of 7 since we play in Starkville next season .rebelbear wrote:Who gives a crap what State does? Cool . Awesome that you brought that up . That's 3 years ago now and that equals an eternity in the football world . We've had some bad breaks the last few weeks but that doesn't excuse losing to Arkansas if we do and it certainly doesn't excuse losing to state for the second straight year . I don't care if a team was 0-12 the previous year , if you finish the season 1-4 in your last 5 then you stumbled and finished poorly. There's never a valid excuse to finish 1-4.B.F. 1 wrote:We were 2-10 three seasons ago. Some of us seem to have the memory of a gnat.
Yes I am disappointed as anybody on this site. That game hurt but it hurt our kids too. Not just their feelings but now we are banged up even more than we were. No shame in finishing 8-4 since we are playing with broken bones, dislocated shoulders, torn muscles and a honey doo list of other injuries. I love our team and their play is exciting. Hotty Toddy to those young men!!! 4 plays made a 28 point swing. Two passes caught that seemed impossible to catch and a couple of fumbles. Call it how ya want but these young men have what it takes to win. We just need them to get off crutches.

Even a bad day as a Rebel is better than a good day with the dawgs!!!!
I agree. They have laid it on the line and that is all you can ask. Arkansas is going to be a big task in a couple weeks. I hope we have enough to beat them. The game we played at LSU very well could have cost us Saturday. The SEC west is a meat grinder and we haven't escaped without our fair share of carnage. I hope we bounce back but I think it will be hard on the road.
So you're saying that our success is based on the failure of State and vice versa? That has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Last I checked our staff does a pretty good job of recruiting, and I don't think it has anything to do with how many games State won or lost. Since you're so sure that they will win the next two Egg Bowls, why don't you just take a two year hiatus from posting. I don't think anybody on here would mind.jrebel87 wrote:But it does , actually.
