There were some talking heads who were counting us out of everything pre-season because we were the only SEC team with ten games before an open date. (Wonder how that happened?) Anyway, our schedule is forgiving, even though we do have to play ten in a row. This coming Saturday, we get Vandy instead of anyone else in the SEC. After the emotional win at Tusacaloosa, there is no way we will be as excited about Vandy coming to town. But we should score against them and often. This isn't exactly an open date, but it's way better than having to play anybody else in the SEC.
After the Florida game--and we seem to have had their number since 1989 and get them with a new system being installed-- we get another scrimmage with New Mexico State, and lots of our guys will get playing time. The Memphis State game won't be as easy as New Mexico State, but it still gives us a break from SEC play. The next three SEC games--which the talking heads insisted were murder pre-season--don't look that way now. I think Auburn and Arkansas will be fighting for the SEC cellar, instead of being the world-beaters everyone thought they'd be. I wonder if Auburn has figured out yet that Will Muschamp just isn't a good coach, period. Jeremy Foley bought into him because he was Texas's coach-in-waiting. Auburn bought into him because he was the D-coordinator at Texas. Must have assumed because he wasn't a head coach at Florida, he was still golden. (Hey, what traditional power has been way down for about the last decade? Can you say Longhorns?)
Meanwhile, Bielema, the Big Ten's 600-lb gift to the SEC, showed his head is still in the Big Ten when he did all that chirping about Ohio State's schedule. Yo, Big Bert, Arkansas's schedule is the only one you should be concerned about. And I love your two-game losing streak OOC before heading into the SEC.
I said after seeing us score 76 points on UT-Martin that we are a contender, and nothing that has happened convinces me otherwise. We have the talent to navigate our schedule successfully--even if it leads to an SEC West showdown with LSU as in 2003. Or shall I say with Leonard Fournette?

While it's nice to think ahead. I hope the focus of our team is only on the next opponent.
Even a bad day as a Rebel is better than a good day with the dawgs!!!!

I'm sure our staff will handle that part. I was just pointing out that everyone that thought ten straight was a killer might want to re-think that.
