Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt announced here Thursday that defensive lineman Chris Strong of Batesville, Miss., has withdrawn from the University of Mississippi.
“We do not expect Chris to be with us this fall, but wish him well in whatever his future holds,” Nutt said.
Strong saw action in nine games last season as a true freshman, starting three games at the “Mike” linebacker position. He finished the year with 19 total tackles, including 10 solo stops, and earned his first collegiate letter.

It amazes me that these young men are given every opportunity and babied along the way and they still can't get by. Well, maybe he can enroll at Auburn and get a sociology degree. Good luck Chris.

Compassion for someone who did not take advantage of a great opportunity? That is pitiful but I do not have any sympathy for him.bleuwolfe wrote:hes a kid who has just been hit over the head by reality, show a little compassion.olemsdave76 wrote:He is Chris Herring all over again. LAZY!

What is so harsh about calling him lazy? I have been called much worse in my life.bleuwolfe wrote:hes a kid who has just been hit over the head by reality, show a little compassion.olemsdave76 wrote:He is Chris Herring all over again. LAZY!
As to compassion for his situation, why should I?
I will have close to $100k in student loan debt when I am done, and this guy had a free ride and to keep it all he had to do was stay eligible. I have two close friends who work at the FedEx center, tutoring members of the team. According to them, he never put forth any effort to improve his grades or even make them in the first place. He was always the last guy to show up to the Center, and the first to get the heck out of there each night. This was not him being hit over the head by reality; he knew it was coming.

He was hit in the head by reality last year when he had to drop out of school and go to Genesis One.bleuwolfe wrote: hes a kid who has just been hit over the head by reality, show a little compassion.
He was also hit in the head by reality last fall when he found out he would not be a first teamer simply by showing up 60 lbs overweight.
He got another smack in the head from reality during Spring Practice when he was held back from workouts because of his grades.
Apparently, Reality needs to drive a Mac Truck up his a$$ in order to get his attention.
It's not insane to suggest that the Rebels have the best defensive line in college football.
