They will not get Nutt. the fans would go berserk. Plus, they say he cant recruit. I think at AU, he could get the players, but he aint going anywhere. I think Auburn will get a new guy. I gotta ask yall since Im ot from the area, but who in the hell is Derek Dooley. sounds like the best coach I never heard of.

Unless Nutt is using this to get a raise, I will be disappointed in his character if he leaves. That being said, I'm wide open and not making any judgements.

Derek Dooley is the son of Vince Dooley and the current head coach of Louisiana Tech. You know, the team that beat MSU the first game of the season? He has been around the NFL and the SEC. I believe he was an assistant at LSU and Georgia. He may can be considered an up and coming coach. Not much of a lineage as a head coach yet. 5-7 and 7-5 in his first two years at La Tech, I believe.
And while his dad Vince coached at Georgia, he (Vince) graduated from Auburn.ReservoirReb wrote:Derek Dooley is the son of Vince Dooley and the current head coach of Louisiana Tech. If what we keep hearing about Boone is correct, maybe he is using this as leverage just to get the things he was supposedly promised. If so, good for him. If he is seriously considering leaving...well I will just leave that in my crawl until, God forbid, that really happens.JoeRebel wrote:Unless Nutt is using this to get a raise, I will be disappointed in his character if he leaves. just gonna put this in for anyone who didnt see it. i know its just as good as any rumor he's leaving, but i felt confident of the source at the time.

Ok gonna put this one to bed.
I worked a fraternity formal (im a bouncer) at the Oxford Univ club tonight on north lamar, for those who haven't been to Oxford in awhile it's like a country club bar all the rich kids have memberships at to pay 40 bucks for a chef salad.
One of the waiters grew up with Nutt's kids from the 4th grade on. He told me Nutt had gotten the job offer's initial contact from Auburn after sharing a cigarette and talking about Tuberville. I said, "really, how did you find that out?" and he proceeded to tell me he's in close with the family and looks at Nutt as one of his "friends' fathers". He apparently hangs out at the house on occasion and was one of the people who helped them with the transition from fayettenam to oxford.
Long story short they (Auburn) offered something to Nutt and Nutt apparently told him not to worry, and to actually tell people not to worry, he's staying put. They really like it here.
Yep, and also look at hagar's post on the other board. Seriously, if Nutt is who we believe....then we can stop worrying....If not, then we will handle it then....everybody can't be a tuberville...Some Coach's actually do mean what they say! We've been going on and on about how good a guy Houston Nutt is. Now is the time to believe it!
Aw, horse *beep*. Breaking news.

uburn is considering Houston Nutt, but not Leach

Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt met with his athletics director and the university chancellor Friday morning. That meeting occurred with the backdrop of Auburn taking a look at Nutt to replace Tommy Tuberville. One coach who is not being considered is Texas Tech's Mike Leach.
The News reported Friday morning Auburn was interested in Nutt and Florida State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher, and possibly a few others. Nutt met with Athletics Director Pete Boone and university chancellor Robert Khayat.
Two names that have been talked about, especially nationally, can be stricken from the list. Leach, who insiders say expressed an interest in Auburn, is not being considered. Texas defensive coordinator and former Auburn assistant Will Muschamp is content in Austin.

What are we the Home Depot of coaches for Auburn??? Can't they go out and find a d*** coach on their own without first calling the Ole Miss Athletic Department?

Well knowing what the DI animal has evolved into, there is NOTHING wrong with using your leverage to get a raise in these times. Way to go Houston!!!!Rebchuck18 wrote:If what we keep hearing about Boone is correct, maybe he is using this as leverage just to get the things he was supposedly promised. If so, good for him.
