Irwin escaped a bad situation. Foul out on the infield was out #2 and a soft pop to Mort ended the inning. Time for the Rebels to break out the bats in the bottom of the 5th and respond!

Still 3-1.
Basham hit to 3rd baseman who made a bad throw to 1st, Bash ends up at 2nd.
Henry sacrifice bunts him to 3rd. 1 out
Power goes opposite way with a line drive to the 2nd baseman, 2 outs.
Smith grounds out to SS. out 3
Basham stranded at 3rd. Runner at 3rd with 1 out and we can't a fly ball to the outfield. Frustrating.

True, but Power didn't strike out. It's hard to be upset about it when he got the bat on the ball. It wasn't a ground out, it was a liner to an infielder, one of only three things that can happen in that situation to prevent the run--A strikeout, a short pop out, or a liner to the infield.Redbluedude wrote:Still 3-1.

True. I'm not a fan of the sac bunt because in college baseball it rarely leads to a run. Now that situation (runner at 2nd) is more successful, but still, with a metal bat, anything can happen. BTW, yes, Pom is available for either day. Bianco said they would evaluate today based on the results of today's game. Lose and he probably starts tomorrow. Win and he'll probably be held for a possible Sunday game.

Looks like the bats are starting to pick up. They changed pitchers, but maybe we got the boost we needed. We're not out of it, but we gotta start stringing some hits together.
