There's a part of me that would like to see him stay and redeem himself, but if he's not capable of getting any better there's no point in it. Next year, when a young QB throws a crucial interception we will at least have the luxury of believing that he will learn from his mistakes. Good luck Jevan, I'll always be pulling for you.
Second fewest sacks in the league...fewer sacks than last year...everyone that got open deep he missed anyway as well as backs and WR's on screen passes....he was schizo last year with a runner up to NFL rookie of the year protecting his blind side....Snead's problems were self inflicted.

I wish him luck, but I'm not in the least worried about what we have waiting in the wings to earn the position.

1. He might never take the field again. And he might win a Super Bowl someday. I hate to see ANY Potential multi-millionaire leave OM knowing that so many people are actually elated. Nutt said he would open up competition. Do you trust Nutt or not? If you do then you want Jevan in the mix and the best man wins.

2. What if the problem really is "developing" a QB? KA designs some good plays, but how many years has he spent "teaching" the position? Did he win the grey cup coaching a rookie...honing skills as he goes...or with a seasoned QB, developed by Someone else?

My post did not deny Snead's self-inflicted problems. My guess is that the coaches were never able to state publically what Snead's problems were without essentially handing the gameplan to the opposition. Perhaps the closest they came was when they said that he was "seeing ghosts." I could be wrong but I don't remember you saying that he was schizo last year when Oher was protecting him.

1) I am less elated and more relieved...I really have hoped that he would get better, but he didn't.

2) if the problem is developing QB's (which I do not believe it is) then we will find that out sooner than later. If Snead stayed and continued his demise, then that would have been another year down the tube without discovering that. I think that Snead is a physically gifted QB who has some issues that keep him from performing on game day (maybe kind of like test anxiety)..but whatever it is you could see that his inability to pull it together was affecting the offense he was leading...if you noticed on that play that led to the testy exchange between QB and center after the fumble in the Cotton Bowl, the only one who apparently had the wrong count on the play was the QB..everybody else reacted simultaneously with the center..and you could read the frustration on the face of receivers...he was never in sync with anyone except Hodge.

Finally, should we be praising 20 interceptions and 39% completion rates in crucial games? If he is that thin skinned, then good luck in the NFL.

I think he may be getting the Nutt treatment in Oxford sans the plane banners and foi phone call record crap.

Well, to each his own I guess :D

I also think Mallett should go now as well....because with his size and arm I think he would easily go in the first two rounds and staying and having an up and down year next year may actually cost him some dough if they change the pay structure in the NFL.

Well, the thing about Mallett that's a bit differen is he's not losing anyone around him. Snead lost a lot around him. Mallett will have an easier schedule than this year and seemingly a better all around team. His stock could jump a bit if things go well. Of course, he could get hurt or pull a Snead and maybe forced to comeback his Senior year.

Just think Mallett has more going for him to come back than Snead would from an face value perspective.

I was mainly just seeing how quickly you would respond SpudHog, even though I think that Mallett might benefit more from a year as a backup than another year on a team that is going through a fairly dramatic transformation.

As far as what Snead loses around him...yes Dex is a loss that is not replaceable..I happen to believe that we have more than one returning receiver who are at least as good as Hodge (Patterson, Breaux, Summers) and a hybrid in Grandy and at least three very good running backs. If the new QB gets them all involved then though we won't have anyone as explosive as Dex, we may in fact have a better and more productive offense. I kind of view Snead and Mallett as kind of like JUCO players..temporary solutions. I think we will both be better off when our teams have solid QB's who spend four years with our teams.

Time will tell. I think Jevan will be fine.

I too have mixed emotions. He has his degree, 2 Cotton Bowl rings for
his time at Ole Miss & a bright future. All the best to Jevan.

I'm happy for Snead and wish him well. He represented Ole Miss with class and lead two of the best Rebel teams in my lifetime. I really have to admit, after the Egg Bowl and then the Cotton, I really started wanting to see Cotton under center next year some. So Snead's departure opens the door for that. But it will show going from someone who has started in, and won, big SEC games to someone who has never done it.

As for Snead's decision, I don't see any incentive for him to come back. He has his degree, he has had a good career here and draft experts are telling him he can go in the second round. Why not go for it?

Snead to the Draft HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA when has a less than average college QB ever got drafted? Look at all of the Ole Miss QB's that came before him that were better that never got drafted. At best he will be picked as free agent then cut before the season

You may be right. But I imagine that he is making this decision based on information that is contrary to your opinion. I hope he is anyway!

I wish him well but who is really shocked he is leaving? Think about his history and how we even got Snead in the first place. He commits to Florida. They also recruit Tim Tebow. Snead decides to go to Texas. Colt wins the starting job. Snead transfers to Ole Miss. Got off to a sketchy start for us last year but finished strong. He was supposed to be a dark horse Heisman candidate this season and we all know how he responded. He was not promised the keys to the driver’s seat next year, and he bailed. He might have really left because of the collective bargaining agreement or the fact he already earned a degree or blah blah blah, but I like a QB that wants to come back because he has something to prove. Snead is not and I don’t think he has ever been that guy. He can make all the throws but so could Jamarcus Russell. I would rather have a guy with average talent but was not a turnover machine.
