That is sometihing we need to improve upon to stay viable in this conference. Petrino's rep is that he will jump ship and he may just do that. If he does, we just come up with more money to hire a better one. The one word we all need to learn about the coaching game is "next"!!!!!

Paintereb I think you may be right on a couple of points. The tampon remark was not meant for most of the rebel fans, but to the one guy that obviously can't have a mature discussion. Yes, you guys do need to get some recruits in there. You are definitely better than what you had!. My only point was if you look at Nutt's record, you will see this same thing happens everywhere he goes. He always beats a team he is not supposed to and loses to a nobody. He did not take us to a major bowl and win but once in the ten years he was with us. Nobody wanted Ole Miss to lose to Jax State, it brings the conference down. I am glad to see though that we can have a fan discussion without being nasty. Patrino may be gone in a year or two, we were just glad to get Nutt out of Arkansas. It worked out for both our schools.

I have not been on here in a while but I see the posts and I really ask is this Nutts problem?. I see the 1st 3 games and my question is where is the defense?. We for one thing this year supposed to be a top 3 defense in the SEC and I am not seeing it. I will say I place the 1st game of the year solely on Nutt but I wont blame him fully for what has happened with the start that we have had. There is no questioning that we have a lot of talent on defense so what gives? Defense wins games and Masolie is not the issue here at this time so my question is what is coach Nix going to do to make the defense better?

Other than two big plays, the defense played very well against Vandy. The offense killed us. Do away with silly turnovers and we are undefeated.

There are just a few cardinal sins when you are in a BCS conference. Unfortunately, OM has experienced 2 of them this year. But, they are only 2 losses. Meaning, OM can respond to finish strong. Here's a bit of outsider perspective.

1) Masoli is asked to do too much for where he's at as a player. He did a lot for Oregon last year. But, he also had a lot of talent around him. Right now, he doesn't appear to be in great enough shape to be running 20 yards on every play. To be in the shape HE requires right now, it’s you need months to prepare IMO. He’s a great athlete but, right now he’s been asked/forced to run a lot on every play. It’s also affecting his technique. His footwork and etc is breaking down.
2) Players are doubting themselves. This is only normal after that week one loss. Sports are 90% mental. Right now, OM looks to be hoping something good will happen and hoping nothing bad will. They appear to be reactionary instead of proactive. Especially looks evident on the defensive side of the ball. And OM is having to rely a lot on younger players. Guys that either weren’t here in the last couple of years or had smaller roles. They don’t have the experience of being great yet at D1
3) Staff Changes Hurt. I don’t care who you are and where you are at. When you lose a Coordinator and/or good position coach, it takes a while to kick in. Ark lost our Offensive Coordinator from last year (Paul Petrino). He didn’t even call plays but he set up in the press box and relayed to Bobby what was going on. Now, we have someone else up there and it’s taking a while to take. Losing Austin was a big blow IMO to OM.
4) Don’t have a hero right now. So many of the Hero’s are gone. Right now, no one is stepping up to the point of it showing up on the scoreboard. You would love for Masoli to do so but, he’s still adjusting IMO. Lockett was ill. Someone needs to be the vocal leader but also the physical leader. Meaning, they are going to have to perform at a high level.

It’s never too late to change but, OM has gotten themselves in a awkward position. Right now, it looks bleak because the answers aren’t apparent. It’s obvious gut check time and this is just not a good year to be rebuilding. LSU, Ark, Auburn and Bama all look to be solid. IMO, this is one of those program building years. This can all be used for good or bad. That’s what up to the players, staff and etc.

I can agree with just about all of that. Losing Rishaw didn't help much on the o-line. I believe the talent is there, young players have to do some growing up. I'm happy with what I've seen of Charles Sawyer.
