We haven't lost 3 games in the final moments because we were "undersized" and "gassed." We lost these 3 games because our db didn't jump at the right moment to knock down Manziels pass on 4th down, we settled for fieldgoals instead of touchdowns against vandy, and we blew outside containment against lsu's punt returner. That is why we have lost 3 games in the final moments. As for expectations, I am very proud of our guys but what you seem to not understand is expectations change according to their situation. Since we started the season 5-3, expectations changed. If we fail to get this final win to go to a bowl game, we have failed to meet the changed expectations that this team brought upon itself by starting the season 5-3.
I don't understand why you even watch football. If I didn't know ANYTHING about football, I wouldn't watch it. Certainly wouldn't comment on it. Check out football for dummies maybe?

You had me til the end.
Nobody can ever say Les coached a good game.
Rickochet: I think Scott meant that Freeze coached a great game. Les Miles was completely shocked that we almost won, probably should have won that game. A vision of things to come with Freeze at the Ole Miss helm.
I know, I was merely making a joke & forgot to hit the sarcasm button before I hit submit.
I meant no disrespect to Scott, merely stating that Les is only the sharpest ballpen hammer in toolbox.

Look guys I'm not trying to *beep* very one off here but no one can deny that part if the reason we have lost 3 games in the 4th is because of poor decision making. For example: yesterday's punt return was a result of the outside man gettin sucked in and not keeping containment on the outside. That happened because he made a mistake... Not because he was tired. The same holds true with not jumping at the right moment to bat down Manziels 4th and forever pass that could have been easily defended had our guy played with his eyes like he is supposed to. So everyone on here doesn't freak out let me be clear: I completely agree that we have exceeded expectations and that we should be proud and that our guys are at times outmanned. However, mistakes such as the two listed above have been made and I hope those don't happen this weekend.

1st of all the mistiming of the jump vs TAM was late in the 4th qtr & very well could have been attributed to exhaustion. It wasn't that he didn't jump or was in bad position on poor timing. We were the 1st team to pick Johnny FB off & did it several times. Coaching was fine w/ the exception of the 4th down play in that game, btw no need to reopen that debate.
2nd is that TV did a good job of replaying that & showing how the LSU player set that up by positioning our player inside, their word was "inviting him to the inside".
Our team & coaches have improved all year long. They have learned new & important lessons every week. Vs. Vandy it was not settle for FG's, & vs LSU we went for it in FG range when I would have kicked it. Vs. TAM it was have faith in your D & also to be sure about your calls when you go for it on 4th.
FOR YOU GUYS THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 59 & 82, well you guys I give up on b/c I don't understand you. & OBTW we don't have 59 that could get scholarships at USM!!!
They all play like they have the heart to get schollies on the ALL Century list.

Yes. And being sucked inside by the opposing teams player is a mistake right? That's all I'm saying. Are you saying we played the 3 games we lost in the 4th completely mistake free and that the only reason we lost is because we were outmanned and tired?

We make the fourth down in the A & M game and keep Vandy from making the first down in that game, and we are 7-3 going into the LSU game. A matter of inches. Mistakes earlier in the LSU game gave them two, short-field TD's. They weren't ready to play and would not have won that game if they had had to earn their points. The punt return wouldn't have mattered. We were nearly a 20-point dog in the LSU game, and I'm very happy that lots of obnoxious Tiger bettors lost their corndog-smelling shirts!
The point is that we were competitive in those three games and could easily have won them. We won't lose games like this in the future, starting next year. We'll be deeper, more talented and the system and schemes will be more established. No point in doubting that Freeze is the man and will get the job done.
I can't emphasize enough that Houston Nutt did absolutely nothing to earn his paycheck the last two years. But hiring the right coach (Hugh Freeze) shows that you can rise quickly from bottoming out. I haven't been this excited about Ole Miss football since Archie's senior season began.

Yep. That's two coaches now that lewindha doesn't have his head on straight about. Apparently doesn't understand what a great job Freeze has done and will do; and continues to defend Mike Bianco in baseball.
Obviously, you guys are far superior to me in every way. And obviously, you guys don't read my posts, especially rebeljim. Never said that Freeze hasn't done a great job. And it's not that I don't think he 'will do', I'm just not ready to speak in 'facts' like you guys are. The title of the thread is "Some (of) y'all have short memories", so let me tell you a story about a man named Houston Nutt. He was hired to resurrect a defunct program. No one expected anything out of his first year, and he wins 9 games with a Cotton Bowl victory, everyone thinks, "Holy crap, we're on our way now. Look at what a great job Nutt
has done and will do!"
No, Freeze is not Nutt. But, Nutt wasn't the Ogre. So I'll hold off on my crowning of Freeze until he's had at least another year. Let's wait until he has those 85 scholarship players and see if he can avoid those 4th quarter collapses before we go calling him the next Saban like you all are so eager to do. Doesn't mean I don't like him, doesn't mean I don't think he's done a great job. He's not perfect like you all think. Can he adapt, learn, and improve? We'll have a better idea after next year I think(Look at that! I'm talking about Freeze coaching the Rebels next year. But, you guys keep acting like I want him fired).
And I still think we can beat State.
