Very excited, coming with my brother-in-law from California, he's never been either. Does anyone have any suggestions for us pregame? I've heard and read all about The Grove, but any ideas on where we should go to check out some cool things? I'm really looking for any advice here, just looking to soak in the entire day.
Thanks!

Well I'm now back in Boston after the great weekend in MS and TN. What a great time, thank you everyone for your suggestions. What a great part of the country. I took a lot of your recommendations and they turned out great.
Friday we played a morning round at the Ole Miss GC. I really, really enjoyed the course. It was beautiful. Just lush, rolling fairways, very well maintained. A very friendly staff as well. I read some of your critiques that it's a little on the pricey side, but compared to what I pay in Boston it was still a good rate. After that round, we went to Ajax for lunch. Awesome place, thanks everyone who suggested that. Got the red beans and rice with andouille, and a local beer, a copperhead amber by Yalobusha. Good stuff, awesome food and cool atmosphere. Had some time before our next tee time so we walked around the campus which is great, got myself and Ole Miss hat for golf. Next, played Mallard Pointe. I know some of you suggested some other courses, which I'm sure would have been great, but we wanted to stay somewhat local so we could get back to Oxford for dinner. It is open, I can assure you that. I don't think many people know that because we played as a twosome, a round in three hours. Unbelievable, there was no one there. It is tight, but it's a nice course. I had heard it was kind of trash, but it looked very well maintained to me, so if they did close, they did some work on it. Dinner back in Oxford at the Blind Pig. Decent food, nothing amazing, got a pulled pork hoagie, with another local beer, Mississippi Fire Ant by Southern Prohibition. That was a good beer. After that, ended up at Locals for a couple more drinks. Cool place.
Saturday was all about football. Went to the Waffle House in Batesville for breakfast because we don't have them in New England, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Decent food, cheap. Got to campus around 11 with our cooler of beer. Great call on the red cups to everyone who said so. Those were a must. The Grove is unreal. You guys are really lucky to have that. I've never seen so many well behaved, not to mention amazingly dressed people, tailgaiting. Dresses, suits, ties, polo shirts. Awesome. I loved the mass Ole Miss tents everywhere, that was great. Enjoyed the team walking through at 1 and the band playing after. Very cool. The game itself was amazing. You all know how it went, but to experience a game in person after watching them on TV for so long was a treat. After the game, wound up at Abners, the chicken tender place. That place rules. Man, that was some good chicken. Then back to Locals for another beer.
Sunday, went into Memphis, spent the afternoon there and played Quail Ridge. Nice course, nothing special, but nice.
And that's it. Thank you again for all your suggestions. I've already looked at getting back for another game this year but the plane tickets are too expensive, not to mention a hotel and football tickets. So it will sadly have to wait for next year. I'm already looking forward to getting back to Oxford the next chance I can.

Glad you had a good time. Now that you have the lay of the land, you will be a pro at tailgating at Ole Miss, southern style.
