I, too, don't want to start an argument. But my info has it that the Committee can do anything it wants. Forcing the Committee to select a team because of a tie-in is not what the Committee is about. At any rate, I really don't care about who gets into the Orange Bowl. I think Ole Miss deserves a spot in one of the Committee Bowls and will get one. (And I'm ready to head off to Dallas or Atlanta!)

That's my understanding as well. Does anyone know the payout for each of these 4 bowls? I assume it is a different payout this year.

Also what is the actual pecking order of all the bowls top to bottom.

Orange is by far the highest payout! The others are chump change in comparison!

It says ACC team gets $26.5 Million and other team gets "a similar payout". The other non-playoff committee bowls pay $3 - 5 Million each.

I've seen other sites saying $19 Million per team for the Orange Bowl, and all say 3 - 5 Million for Peach & Cotton. Not sure on the Fiesta bowl

The Cotton this year is 33 mil... but really who cares because we get the same cut as Vandy or Bama will anyway. The SEC splits the bowl payouts, remember?

Does the Cotton really pay more than the championship game this year?

The Cotton is expected to payout $3.625 million per participating team. As far as distribution of the payout the SEC schools have agreed to the following: 30% goes to the school participating in the bowl. The remaining 70% goes to the SEC. A small portion of that 70% is used for SEC administrative costs and the rest is divided among all the schools in the conference. For the lesser bowls, it usually costs more than the school gets in return. However, if we go to the cotton, we will get at least $1.2 million (our 30% plus our portion of the shared) for that bowl alone. We will also get a portion of the payouts from each of the other bowls that SEC teams go to.
