I used to think the same way as you. But then I got to looking into his time at TT, and the circumstances there were very similar to ours. All he did was win with average to decent athletes, and by the end of his tenure there he was competing consistently with Texas and OU. The more I think about it, the spread may be the only way we could sneak in and steal a championship from the big boys. Y'all don't crucify me or anything--I still like/prefer a pro-set, but I'm for generating points and excitement among the fanbase, too. Sure, ESPN would probably hate on whatever school he wound up at. But as a member of the SEC, it'd be kinda hard to blackball us out of TV time. Like I said, just thoughts. I just want a change, especially at the top (AD).

i just don't want to run the spread. even the best spread offense coach in the sec dan Mullet can't win the sec with it. it rarely wins championships unless you have a tebow or a newton. and we all know those kinda Guys are rare. nick saban wins with game managing qb's because of the pro style. im not saying we couldn't b3 successful with the spread. im just saying that the spread is a tough offense to run. i would like Leach for the job, but again its the baggage man. and he has more of it than coach o's eyes

I wanted Holtz when we got rid of Fred Flinstone. Still would like to get him....my second choice is still Kent Austin.
I with you on Holtz. Not sure if he would come or if it would just be a stepping stone job for him but, at this point, I don't care. Holtz has been successful and is proven as a college head coach. I am not as high on Kent Austin just because he is unproven as a head coach however he is one of ours and he is intelligent. I may not be as high on him as Holtz but I would be okay with bringing Austin back home.

Saban wins with D NOT a pro style offense. Two different things...

um Kirby smart is coordinator. see above. and last time i checked the offense scores most of the points. nobody like's a smart a##. if you're not gonna read it all don't post onɜ my threads. the bama runs pro style and has the best d. that is exactly what i said we need. pro style and Kirby smart.
