Hey, don't forget the year ULM beat Alabama! One of the best jokes ever to come out of college football made the rounds. Just in case you've forgotten: "Why can't 'Bama go to the Independence Bowl in Shreveport?....Because they can't get past Monroe!"

It was a terrible night. Very close to how OM lost to Jax St. Blew a big lead and watch a gutty call in OT that went well.
We are not a good team right now. We have a lack of passion, execution level and quite frankly don't look like we want to be on the football field. It's a bad situation in which the House of Cards may have very well crumbled Saturday night. We could fall off the map very quickly.

Don't know you, spud, but I know how you feel. All OM fans were in disbelief after the Jax State game. I've always felt that Nutt somehow thought there would be a gentleman's agreement between himself and Jack Crowe after OM finished the half up 31-10. That agreement being that Nutt didn't want to embarrass his good friend, so he called off the dogs. However, Crowe obviously didn't call off his. I think I remember at least one of our players saying that they 'couldn't get it back' after they let up in the second half. Well, that's always on the coaches, not the players. I also believe that Nutt mentally said, "To hell with it!" after Crowe beat him and just decided to collect a paycheck. But OM fans shouldn't dwell on Nutt anymore. He's gone, and we've got a really good young coach replacing him. The program will continue to rise now.
As for your situation at Arky, it's a bit different. OM wasn't ranked in the Top Ten when Jax State took a bite out of us. There were expectations but with McCluster and certain others gone, they weren't anywhere near as high as yours were this season. I believe Arky has already dropped out of the coaches' poll. Unfortunately, John L. Smith was just hired to 'babysit' the franchise until something better could be devised. The ULM game will stick with your players just as the Jax State game stuck with ours. They'll be reliving it, and the worst thing I could think of would be to have the #1 team in the nation come to town next week.
My opinion preseason about Arkansas was that John L. Smith was obviously not Petrino and that the Hogs would fall short of expectations. However, I did not expect that it would happen so quickly. OM has made so many bad hires since Vaught retired--a few bright spots here and there under Billy Brewer, Tubs and Cutcliffe (but only because of Deuce and Eli). It all goes back to the head coach, though. They're not all that easy to find and hire. I think OM finally has one in Freeze. Arkansas, unfortunately, doesn't right now.

Is Wilson hurt badly? and the two running backs? If you get Wilson back I don't think it will quite be back to the drawing board. I think some folks underestimate just how important the qb is in the SEC..if Wilson and maybe one of the rb's comes back I think y'all might be ok. Obviously National Championship hopes are gone, but a very good season could still be in play if Wilson gets back.spudhog wrote:Back to the drawing board for us. QB: Tyler Wilson is 50/50 for saturday, but will be back this year.Rebchuck18 wrote:Is Wilson hurt badly? and the two running backs? FB: Kiero Small and Kody Walker are both out for the year.
DB: Tevon Mitchell out for the year
DB: Kellybrew, I am not sure, but sounds like he will be playing this week
That's all I got... Sucks to be us right now.
This is my word, and as such is beyond contestation.
I meant, the next few years we'll have to go back to the drawing board. Lot of things died Saturday night. The admin attempted to keep the "Petrino Way" alive for this one magical season. That died when we lost to an opponent we were favored to beat (Petrino never lost that way at Ark).Rebchuck18 wrote:Is Wilson hurt badly? and the two running backs? This type of loss can affect recruiting and etc. The thought was, we had a tremendous staff here. What kind of tremendous staff allows that to happen? A lot of what we based our optimism/hope on crashed/burned Saturday night. It's not the end of the world but it's getting close to it. Petrino built this machine up. Now it's being torn down quickly. Someone will have to build it back up again. As OM can attest, that process isn't exactly fun.
Its a bad feeling Spud. We understand. This has been a terrible year for Arkansas football. We know what its like to feel the excitement and the magic sucked out of your program. But I don't believe its as bad as you fear. UA will go bowling again this year. And then a new coach, one with a championship pedigree will be hired to make sure the Razorbacks remain a top program. You guys will be fine.spudhog wrote:I meant, the next few years we'll have to go back to the drawing board. Lot of things died Saturday night. We all can agree, Texas Sucks! Beat down Beevo!
I very well COULD be wrong, but I believe Beevo is the name of the mascot in the suit for the longhorns.

Bevo is the actual Longhorn that is at the games in Austin. I believe that Bleu may have been questioning the spelling....just one "e".batman50 wrote:bleuwolfe wrote:Beevo?spudhog wrote:Hope so.
